Late night appreciation post but I just want to say a massive thank you to ALL our volunteers for all their hard work behind the scenes with our free garden makeover 💜

A massive thank you to Michael Vycan Vycan Fix It who has been here, there and everywhere in person & online trying to source things for us and reached out to York’s for the patio clean 😊 He has just cracked on which has taken a massive weight off of me! Thank you x

Also to Nicola Bell who has also contacted a couple of places and is my go to person for organising everything with ADL Services Ltd and making sure everything is all organised between myself and the ADL team.

Which brings a thanks again to ADL team for the waste clearance and Lenny who has sourced bits & is out with me tomorrow for day 2 of the garden project 😊

💜 BIG GARDEN PROJECT UPDATE 💜

Honestly… this is such a lovely one to share 😭💜

Yorks Sweeper Hire Ltd & Yorks Power Cleaning have donated an amazing £250 towards our free garden project AND are providing a completely free professional patio clean for the family and are even staying afterwards to help us with the rest of the garden project too 😭💜

This project is for a young local mum in Milton Keynes who is living with stage 4 cancer.

The past year has been unbelievably difficult for the family and the garden understandably became too much on top of everything else they’ve been dealing with.

What they wanted was simple really... just a safe, peaceful space where the family can sit outside together again, where the children can play, and where they can make some happy memories in the garden 💜

Yesterday I went to meet the team at York’s Sweeper Hire to talk through the project and honestly… they were just AMAZING. The kindness, excitement and genuine care they showed for this family was so lovely to see.

Businesses like this restore your faith in people and we will never stop appreciating the people who choose to use their business to help others.
They really are absolute angels 💜

Their marketing team MKT : MIX will also be joining us on the day to get some photos and videos of York's team and some of the transformation 💜

The kindness and generosity behind this support is going to make such a massive difference for this family, and we genuinely cannot wait to work alongside them on this project.

Volunteering Opportunities for our free garden makeover 💜:
We are receiving so many wonderful messages about wanting to volunteer to help 🙂
Whilst we are currently not looking for volunteers to join on the day (this could change) there are other ways you can help volunteer and help with this transformation 💜

We are looking for volunteers who can reach out to local companies that sell plants to see if they would be able to donate any towards this transformation. That can be done in the comfort of your own home or it's an opportunity to get out, get some fresh air and pop into some local businesses to ask 🙂💜

You can also keep an eye out on Facebook for any plants being given away for free and organise collection on our behalf 🙏

You won't need anything from us to get started but can pop us a message and keep us updated.

This would help so much and we would be so grateful 💜

Day 1 of our Mental Health Cleaning free garden makeover 💜

This year, our free garden project is for a young local mum in Milton Keynes who is living with stage 4 cancer whilst raising her two young boys.

They’ve had an incredibly difficult year filled with hospital visits, medical appointments, exhaustion, and trying to survive day by day and understandably, the garden has completely gotten on top of things.

Usually we’re able to share the whole transformation in just one video… but this garden project has turned out to be on another level, so we’re having to share this makeover in separate parts.

Alongside our free mental health cleans, we are able to carry out one free garden makeover project each year for somebody in our community who truly needs it most.

We do these projects because we understand that for some people living with mental or physical health struggles, they can become isolated within their homes, and their garden may be the only outdoor space they are able to safely access for fresh air, peace, and to help support their mental health and wellbeing.

Today was all about tackling the overwhelming amount of waste so we could actually see what we were working with underneath it all. Until now, we couldn’t properly see the ground or assess the condition of the garden beneath everything that had built up over time.

A huge thank you to ADL Waste Removal Limited for supporting this project and carrying out the waste clearance for us.

This transformation genuinely would not have been possible without them.

Together, we completely filled an entire van with waste, alongside multiple one-ton bulk bags. One of the bags was so large and heavy that it couldn’t even fit into the van and had to be left behind for collection separately.

Now that we can finally see the space properly, we’re able to adjust and adapt our plans for the transformation going forward 💜🧹🌿

Hey, scared 15 year old pregnant me… 💜

Did you ever imagine that 20 years from now, you would be shortlisted for the Women Leaders Awards UK 2026 ?

I honestly never thought I would ever be writing something like this, but I’m so proud (and slightly emotional) to share that I have been shortlisted in the category of Community Impact (Volunteer)
for the Women Leaders Awards UK 2026.

Back then I was frightened, overwhelmed, and unsure what my future would look like.

I never imagined that one day my experiences, struggles, and passion for helping others would lead me here.

Mental Health Cleaning was built from lived experience, compassion, community, and the belief that nobody should have to struggle alone or feel ashamed to ask for help.

What started from simply wanting to help people feel less alone and to feel safe and have a clean supportive home, has grown into something bigger than I ever imagined.

I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported the us, volunteered beside me, shared our posts, trusted us in their homes, or encouraged me when I doubted myself. This recognition truly feels like it belongs to all of us. 💜

No matter what happens next, this already means so much to me 🥲

Sometimes the scared version of you has absolutely no idea how strong the future version will become 💜
