Today I had a lovely chat and lunch with Paul who is the Chair of the MK DONS Community Trust 💜 I met Paul at The High Sheriff of Buckinghamshires Shout Volunteering event for my speech last week. It was great to have a more relaxed talk today. It was insightful to hear about who they are and everything they are trying to do and achieve, to support the local community and how incredibly passionate Paul is about this and his work 🙂💜

I’m still trying to process tonight 💜

I had the absolute honour of speaking at the High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire’s Shout Volunteering evening, and honestly… I was so anxious that as soon as I stood on stage and saw everyone looking at me, I cried.

But I did it anyway.

And at the end… I received a standing ovation. Something I never expected, and yes… it made me cry all over again.

What meant just as much were the conversations afterwards. So many people came up to me with kindness, hugs, support, and wanting to connect, collaborate, and have me speak for the people they support. That truly means everything.

I really hope my speech helped highlight the importance of volunteering, and why Mental Health Cleaning exists. Because this is about so much more than cleaning - it’s about compassion, dignity, and showing up for people when they need it most.

Today, while I was in Wickes, I was kindly stopped by someone who recognised me from Mental Health Cleaning.

We got chatting and he told me about something he’s doing, and honestly it really stuck with me.

Luke Radwell at Blake-Radwell’s is planning to walk 100 miles to raise £30,000 for the Campbell Centre Milton Keynes.

It’s part of a bigger project to improve mental health units and make them feel calmer and more supportive for people who are going through really difficult times

This really aligns with what we believe at Mental Health Cleaning. The environments we live and stay in have such a big impact on our mental health, our wellbeing, and our ability to recover. Everyone deserves to feel safe, calm and comfortable in their space, especially during the hardest times 💜

What really got me is that this is personal for him. He’s been a patient at the Campbell Centre himself during some of his lowest points, and now he’s trying to give something back.

I just think that’s incredible.
