Update: News just in! This will be going out tomorrow evening at 5pm.

One of our most committed fundraisers, 12-year-old Joshua, has been in front of the tv cameras again today – this time on national news! Joshua spoke to Channel 5 about his two years ‘camping for care’ in his back garden to raise much-needed funds for our work. Milton Keynes Mayor, James Lancaster, popped along too and said it was a privilege to meet such an inspiring young man. You can watch Joshua, and our Willen at Home Lead Nurse, Claire Burr, on Channel 5 teatime news tonight, at the slightly earlier time of 4pm.

💙 How our children’s experience of death and dying shapes their lives.

Emily’s grandad, Ron, lived in Willen and had always supported the Hospice. Under the care of our Willen at Home team, Ron had the death he wanted – with family, at home.

Meanwhile, Emily and her eldest son, Luca, also received support from Willen at Home, which went beyond what she could ever have imagined and shaped Luca’s feelings about death and loss as he grew up.

There's just over a week to go until Lal Tawney from Broughton Cycling Group Sportive and six friends cycle an additional 52 miles on top of their already commendable 100-mile route as part of our Cycle Sportive on Sunday 31 August. The team are cycling an extra mile for every year of Ranjit Singh's life.

Ranjit was a pillar of the Milton Keynes community, our former Associate Director and a forever friend of Willen Hospice. If you can, please give Lal and his friends a boost by donating to his page: https://donate.willen-hospice.org.uk/pf/lal-tawney-308c5

Here's an update on Lal's training so far.:

"This week I clocked up 174 miles over two rides, with a standout effort of 135 miles from MK to Silverstone, Marlow, Rickmansworth, Tring, and back to MK. That’s my longest ride of the year by 50 miles - so I’m feeling good (if a little saddle-sore after 9 hours 16 minutes in the saddle!).

"Huge thanks to Manso, Rafa, and Jacqui for keeping me going and getting me round. Couldn’t have done it without you!

"Every mile is building towards the big challenge, and every pound raised makes it worthwhile. Knowing your support is behind me is what keeps me going when the legs are screaming.

"Thanks so much for all the support and encouragement so far. If you’ve been meaning to donate, now’s the time, it will give me a huge boost heading into the last weeks of training. Together, we can turn all these hours on the road into something that makes a real difference."

Want to join the ride? Sign up to our Sportive online or on the day - just make sure to arrive in plenty of time ahead of your chosen route! https://willen-hospice.org.uk/event/cycle-sportive-2025/
