Ahead of this years Record Store Day UK on Saturday 18 April we've been catching up with our incredible Music Shop team.

Passionate record collector and Team Leader at Off The Record MK in Midsummer Place Andy has been featured in this month's Record Collector Magazine.

We asked Andy how it all happened! 👇

"It's quite a simple story really. I've been a subscriber to Record Collector for over 10 years. Each month they have a three-page article called ‘The Collector’. Over the years there have been a variety of people in the article, from musicians to DJs, journalists and record label owners to regular music loving members of the public.

"Having finally got my collection all in one place and organised post house extension, I dropped a note to the editor to see if they'd be interested in my story and how I went from IT architect and volunteering for Willen Hospice to helping run Off The Record.

"Clearly they were, within 24 hours I'd been sent a series of questions to answer around my background, what I collect and why, rarities, etc.

"Less than three weeks later my phone pinged again with a message from a music loving friend I've known for years that said "Who's this geezer in Record Collector magazine?". It happened way faster than expected but it was a great opportunity to promote Off The Record, which over the last three years has been a big part of my love of music."

We have a very special reason to share this story today💙

Today would be Steve's birthday and it's the first for Kathy, Jessica and Jennifer, without him. We hope they can draw comfort in coming together in celebration of his life on this special, but difficult day. Thank you so much for sharing your story. 💙

In Steve’s last weeks, our Lymphoedema and In-Patient Unit teams were able to make him more comfortable and give him precious time to spend with his family – chatting, laughing, and most importantly, listening to all his favourite music.

Steve’s wife, Kathy, and daughters, Jessica and Jennifer, explain how this ‘special ending’ has helped them move forwards with their lives.

Every day, Willen Hospice is here for local people and families facing the most difficult time of their lives.

We’re proud to provide our care free of charge but it costs £11 million each year to do this. With just under 13% funded by the NHS, we need to raise £9.6 million ourselves through the incredible support of our community. And right now, that challenge is growing. More people need our care, and costs are rising.

So we’re taking an important and ambitious step forward to meet this need.

We’ve reshaped our current (awesome!) Income Generation team to make sure we’re ready for the future - strengthening how we raise funds, connect with our community and grow support so we can continue to be there for everyone who needs us.

As part of this, we’re looking for passionate, talented people to join us in four key roles:

➡️Relationship Manager (Business & Philanthropy)
➡️Marketing & Communications Manager
➡️Supporter Growth & Insight Manager
➡️Challenge Fundraising Lead

These are exciting opportunities to be part of something that really matters - helping to shape the future of hospice care in our community.

It's the busiest time of year for our passionate team at Off The Record MK in Midsummer Place ... Record Store Day UK is coming to our much-loved Music shop on Saturday 18th April!

Team Leader Sandy has been busy getting the word out to music lovers in our region!

Sandy joined BBC Three Counties Radio as part of their ‘Job Swap’ feature and we’re proud to say… he WON 🙌

Despite some pre-show nerves (and a tricky question about the BRITs 😅), the spotlight was a fantastic chance to shout about everything that makes our shop special from the amazing team and volunteers, to the donations that help fund Willen Hospice.
