How fast can I run a mile?

With only 8 weeks to go, just a little update on my training for the London Landmarks Half Marathon raising money for Pain Concern

My mileage is gradually creeping up and we are mixing up the runs. Many thanks to Larissa at Transition Coaching for creating a training plan that so far I can stick to!

Thank you all for your motivational messages and your donations, every penny will make a difference

Apparently today is Blue Monday, but in reality that isn’t true; colours don’t care what day it is, and any day can be blue; put the kettle on and paint the day any colour you want to.

Chatting about coping with Christmas stress

Want to feel closer to the people around you this festive season?

Kindness is a simple way to do it. Even small gestures like checking in with someone who might be lonely or lending a hand can make a big difference. And the best part? Being kind can make you feel good too.

Research from the Sussex Centre for Research on Kindness shows that these little acts help people feel connected, supported, and happier.

This Christmas, try spreading a bit of kindness to others and yourself. You might be surprised at how much it brightens the season.

📣 'Have Your Say on Chronic and Recurrent UTI Research!'

Do you live in the UK and experience chronic or recurrent UTIs, or care for someone who does? We need your input!

Recently, over 1,200 people with lived, caring or professional experience of chronic and recurrent UTIs shared more than 2,600 questions regarding this condition.
We assessed these to create a list of 50 questions for research to answer, and we need YOU to help choose the Top 10 that are the MOST important.

We have a long list of 50 questions for future research to answer, and need your help to find out which are the most important.

Take the survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/UTI2

Your answers will shape research priorities and influence future diagnosis and treatment.

Who should take part in this survey?

We want to hear from:
✅Adults and children who live with or have experienced chronic or recurrent UTI
✅Carers of adults and/or children with chronic or recurrent UTI
✅Healthcare professionals and other people who care for those with chronic and recurrent UTI in the community

Please share this survey with others - every voice matters!

We will make the resulting Top 10 list of questions available at www.amr-action-uk.org in February. For more information on this project go to amr-action-uk.org.

Take the survey https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/UTI2

The survey lists the 50 questions and asks you to select the 10 that matter to you the most. We have added two stages to help you narrow them down. The survey should only take 5-8 minutes to complete.

Managing stress at Christmas: Ask for help - but be specific

See if your partner will dig out the decorations.

Ask your sister to help you cook - or host the Christmas dinner itself.

Invite a friend along on shopping trips.

People are often more willing to help out than you expect.

They just need some guidance from you on what to do.

Managing stress at Christmas: Put some music on....

When you first notice anxiety – start to sing

Sing a song/nursery rhyme that you know and can sing without thinking about the words – it will control your breathing, release endorphins and be distracting
