A little message from Ellie:

As my final week comes to a close, I just wanted to say a big, personal thank you.

I have been trying to write something for a while and it's been quite tough to get the words out - you all know how much I love the dogs and what I do. I will miss both the dogs and their families more than I can say and this decision has been a very difficult one for me to make because of you all! I cannot thank you enough for not only trusting me to treat your best friends but to also keep returning for years, even after I have discharged them or you have moved away - I just can't get rid of some of you can I? 😉
It has truly been an honour to have you all in the centre with me and I have loved every minute of our sessions. I have loved getting to know you all and being your personal therapist as well as your dogs. I have made many life long friends and the love you have all shown me over the years will never be forgotten. I have been absolutely blown away by the chocolates, wine, flowers, gifts, cards, letters and even balloons. It has certainly been an emotional time. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, you have all been far too generous and the words have really touched me.

Please do contact me if you have any questions and, as always, I will be here to help where I can.

Again, thank you for all of the happy memories, new friends and so much fun, love and slobbery kisses along the way.

All the best,
Ellie. 🐾❤️

Sometimes the therapy is too fun to stop! 😍

Bert the patterdale started his journey with us back in 2023 to help strengthen his back end up due to noticing some muscle wastage and a slightly odd gait. He has regular Physiotherapy appointments alongside his hydro and, with the combined effort of both, he is now fitter than ever! We remember his first session well as he was not very confident in the water and certainly made a splash... but after one or two sessions he turned into an addict!!

He has been attending fortnightly fun/fitness sessions just to keep him in tip top shape and absolutely loves his swims. We believe it may be his favourite place and he tells us all about it if we take a second longer than he would like!

Today he had his last session with Ellie and had an absolute blast with the addition of extra cuddles during his rest periods! 🥰

The lovely Monty could not have a bigger smile on his face if he tried, he just loves his swims! 😁

He's a lucky boy because he can keep up with his swims whilst he has a stay over in the kennels as well as spending some time over in the day care with his brother too, this makes the stay so much fun! ✨️

Keeping the water clean, clear and healthy ready for your four legged friends is of utmost importance.

Here we are doing our morning water testing and cleaning before opening up for a fun day. 😁

Freuds legacy.. ❤️🕊

Many of you will recognise this cheeky chap as he has been a regular with us for a couple of years now. But let me tell you a little bit about Freud. Freud lost his leg due to cancer two and a bit years ago now and started hydro for some strengthening. He took to having three legs like a champion and it really didn't stop his cheekiness!! He was a fantastic swimmer and would race up the ramp looking back at Ellie going "well hurry up, are we getting in our what?!". He loved his regular swims and he always felt fantastic after he had been! Freud thrived over these last two years but unfortunately took ill whilst away on holiday at the lake district and sadly passed away on boxing day. He truly was a huge character in a small body, he brought happiness to every room he entered and leaves behind a great hole in his family. He was loved more than we can say and was very much spoilt - too right!

His owners have very kindly donated an innopet all-terrain buggy which allowed Freud to still go out on adventures. He sat in it like royalty until he wanted to have a sniff. We know how difficult it can be having a dog with a brain more capable or younger than their body. So we would love to offer this buggy out at no charge to our clients who may struggle on their feet but would still like to keep up with the family. This is especially useful to those who may have multiple dogs or those who love longer walks with their dogs who may have now slowed down.

Please speak to a member of staff for further details and we will be happy to help. The weight limit is 25kg.

Thank you to Freuds family for their generosity as they also donated the much loved bundle of sqeaky toys!
We know how much this will mean to some. ❤️

Freud you we be missed by everyone who had the honour of meeting you here at Crossroads.

We are obsessed with those eyes! 😍

Darcy the GSP is with us for some puppy swims. Seeing as though we have swam the rest of the pointer and pom family it just wouldn't be fair for Darcy to miss out on all the fun! She's now come for a couple of gentle climatising sessions and had her first swim this session. She's unsure but is really taking it all in her stride!

Having multiple dogs will always show you why we adapt our sessions to the dogs rather than try to get the dogs to adapt to the sessions. It is always interesting to see the contrast in confidence, enthusiasm and ability!

Ps. She rapidly outgrew her sisters old drying fleece so was treated to this beautiful pink ruff and tumble drying coat, how gorgeous?! 😍

Are you even friends if you don't have matching, personalised robes for your Hydrotherapy sessions?! 😍

Heres Wolfie and Dexter who are best friends from different households and both attend regular Hydrotherapy swims with us. For Christmas they were each treated to these beautiful drying robes. How fabulous do they look?! 👌🏻

Jessie and Gus both enjoyed their sessions this week - mainly because it included some cheese! 😋

Our Story

Hydrotherapy simply means “healing with water” – which is what our team specialise in at Crossroads Hydrotherapy. Our hydrotherapy pool provides a non-weight bearing form of exercise for your dog, as well as providing great physical and mental stimulation in a pool – which is heated at between 30-32 degrees Celsius.

Hydrotherapy is beneficial for a range of different conditions including; spinal injuries, amputation, arthritis and obesity.

The pool is custom built to 5.1m x 2.5m and 1.2m deep, with external and internal ramps to allow easy access to and from the pool for each dog. Our pool also has underwater cameras which allow us to see how the dogs are using their limbs and ensure that they are using them correctly.

Each dog is washed before and after each swim, while the pool is quality checked three times a day.
