The secret isnโt in more reps or resistance, itโs often the opposite - slowing down..
On the Reformer, control is everything..
When performing knee-focused exercises, slow, precise movement ensures the right muscles (like your quads + glutes) are doing the work, rather than overloading the joint structures.
โก๏ธ Why this matters:
โ๏ธ Protects the knee from overload
โ๏ธ Builds strength + stability around the joint
โ๏ธ Reduces risk of flare-ups or injury
As a physiotherapist, I see too often that speed and momentum replace control.
๐ญ Remember: Pilates is about mindful movement, not rushing through reps or going as heavy as you can.
Quality > quantity especially when protecting your knees.
๐ก Tip: Next time youโre on the Reformer, focus on a 3โ4 second controlled return phase. Youโll feel the difference immediately.
