Hemingway (named because we have a real dachshund called Ernie) took a tumble last night in the storm. I have checked him over and he should make a full recovery 😉😂. I’m not sure his neck should be at that angle tho.

It’s beginning to look a “bit” like Christmas 🎄- Hemingway is back with his Rockin Robins 😂. We are open until December 23rd and I have laid on a couple of extra sessions to accommodate people. Back at the bench on Friday 2nd. If an existing patient has an “incident” over Christmas please drop me a message and I will open up and do an emergency clinic.

Thank you Ellie from Grant Charter Equine Dentists for another excellent dental session for the girls. Even with my two having great mouths it’s vital for TMJ function and hence neck function that the teeth are not impeded by any hooks or sharp points. Love how many breaks they give them to release the tension on their jaws and their emotions. Fanfare rather likes having hers done but you can still feel the muscles bunching in her neck at times. Bella is much more anxious and really is a coiled spring - giving her lots of breaks helps her to self regulate her anxiety and after every short break she walked back towards Ellie ready for the next bit. Putting her in control of that helps to build her trust that she’s not going to be pinned or forced. I think that is the point of this post - remember the benefits of having a break. Whatever you are doing 😉

Prevention is better than cure …. In the clinic I dole out advice on how to reduce the risk of an urgent visit to me! I thought I might sprinkle a few of these gems online … yes for free 😉.

1: Gardening …. Don’t do any one task for more than 20 minutes at a time.

For instance :-

Dig for 20 mins, clear away the w**ds for 20, load the compost or garden bin for 20. You can repeat the cycle several times.

Reasoning? Each task uses muscle groups in different ways which prevents fatigue and literally shares the load. ✅

What a sing and dance?

With all this lovely weather we have had a strong start this week with patients coming in having overdone it in the garden. It’s going to be lovely weather all week so get out there and soak up some vitamin D too. But … how to avoid that post gardening back ache? Most of it comes from holding one posture for too long and over concentrating on the physical aspect of w**ding etc. Latest research shows that if you incorporate some dance moves into your w**ding it will help with moving your posture. To avoid the over focus it can really help if you sing as you w**d. (Much nicer than wee’ing as you sing 😳). So, respect your neighbours ears but choose a belter of a tune and sing and dance your way through the dandelions.

Me me me! 😂. I appear to have not said when I'm working .... I am a McTimoney Chiropractor and I treat both humans and animals. G Nan still amazingly spry and totally with it at 104 and my mum still running her business and awesome at 90. for those genes.
