Taichi Stick Qigong classes at York House in Stony Stratford, Tuesdays from 6:30 to 7:30pm
The Taiji Stick Health Preservation Exercise reflect the concept of harmony between yin and yang, person and nature All movements involved are soft and slow & easy to practice.The concept of Taiji Stick is to guide breathing with the stick.
In practicing with the Stick should twist, turn, bend, and stretch around the waist as a center and move our spine accordingly The focus is inside the body and abdominal breathing is natural and regulated. The movements are soft, repetitive, and usually rhythmic, resulting in a calm, quiet mind
The CHQA placed the characters `太极’ (Taiji) first, and then added the Chinese characters “养生” (Yang, to preserve, and sheng, for health). Finally, they used the character “杖” (zhang) for the wand (aka cane, stick or rod) Sheng is about (giving) birth, life or being alive. Together, they loosely translate as: caring for life or nourishing life force
