Here at Porthaven Care Homes, we are proud to support the annual Macmillan Cancer Support coffee morning fundraiser!

Today, our homes across the country will be holding their very own Macmillan fundraisers - from bake-offs to bake sales, there will be plenty of sweet treats prepared (and consumed!) for a good cause! 💚🧁

🌟 Thank You for Joining Our “Meet the Neighbours” Event! 🌟

Last week, we were thrilled to welcome so many of our wonderful neighbours to Elizabeth Gardens. It was fantastic to connect, say thank you for your patience during our build, and start building new friendships in our community, it was great to get to know everyone and hear their stories of our build.

A special thank you to our guest of honor, Kori, who has followed our journey from the very start and built a great relationship with our builders. We were honoured to have Kori cut the ribbon at our very first event!

Thank you to everyone who came along. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.

This , the Alzheimer's Society are focusing on the importance of community in combating dementia. It will take a society to beat dementia, and we all have a role to play, which is why this incredible charity are asking people to help however they can, whether through fundraising, volunteering, campaigning or becoming a Dementia Friend.

Here at Porthaven Care Homes, our homes regularly fundraise for dementia-based charities, with some of our team members even taking part in sponsored skydives in the past! Many of our team members are also Dementia Friends and work with their local dementia action alliances to make their communities more dementia friendly.

💚Memory Boxes at Elizabeth Gardens 💚

One of the thoughtful features on our Memory Floor is our Memory Boxes, created in partnership with our residents and their families. These boxes include personal items from home, special keepsakes, and photographs, all chosen to help our residents feel comfortable and supported.

Each box is placed outside the resident’s room to help guide them with familiar visuals. Alongside it, we include a photo of their key person, so residents and families know exactly who to speak to if they need anything.

We’re truly touched that so many of our staff have embraced this idea, creating their own example boxes to share with the team and the public. It’s a beautiful way to showcase how these memory boxes can make a real difference in the lives of our residents. 💚👥

Team Building Never Stops at Elizabeth Gardens! 💪

At TeamEG, we believe that strong teamwork is the foundation of great care. Our team works so well together, and to keep that spirit alive, we introduced a fun new challenge!

The task - Build a bridge that can: Hold a full cup of water, Look aesthetically pleasing to our CSM’s eye.

Materials allowed: Lolly pop sticks, Matchsticks, Tape
A small amount of card (only the width of a thumb)

We had a lucky winner who impressed everyone by using the packaging to enhance the design, a clever and stylish touch! 🏆

It’s always inspiring to see creativity, collaboration, and a bit of friendly competition bring our team even closer together. 💚

🐾 Meet Willow, Our New Furry Friend! 🐾

We had a wonderful visit from Willow and her lovely owner Helen!
Willow has just passed her course as a Pet Therapy Dog, and we’re honoured to be her first care home placement! 🎓🐶

She’s calm, cute, and oh-so-fluffy (we’re talking about Willow, of course 😄), and we just know our residents are going to fall in love with her.

As a new home, it’s incredibly special to welcome Willow into the Elizabeth Gardens family. We can’t wait for her to start bringing smiles, comfort, and cuddles to everyone here once we open.

🎉 Induction Week at Elizabeth Gardens! 🎉

Who says learning can’t be fun? 😄

Our amazing team has been busy with induction training, from our dedicated Housekeeping staff to our compassionate Care Team, and even our Home Manager!

It’s inspiring to see everyone coming together, learning new skills, and growing stronger as a team. The energy, enthusiasm, and laughter around the home have been fantastic!

Here at Porthaven Care Homes, we are thrilled to announce that we are partnering with Bloom Care Solutions to bring bespoke day care centres to a selection of our homes, starting with Avondale Care Home, Aylesbury.

Bloom are on a mission to combat social isolation and provide regular safe spaces within communities, which is why, during their weekly day service, Bloom’s qualified care team provide a person-centred experience, which includes engaging activities, a midday meal and dedicated care. As Bloom’s team are made up of qualified care providers, their day centres are open to all, meaning nobody is denied the chance to socialise, take part in activities tailored to their interests and enjoy time out and about in our homes.

Bloom’s day care centres are also a great opportunity for our residents to meet new people and try something new. While Bloom run the centres with their own team members, our residents are always welcome and encouraged to join in with any activities on offer, making this a true partnership.

We will be hosting a launch event at Avondale Care Home in Aylesbury next Friday. The event is open to all and will run from 11am to 3pm, with a complimentary buffet lunch provided for all in attendance. 🎨 Meet Our Activities & Well-Being Team 🎶

They’re here to bring joy, laughter, and plenty of smiles, not just to our residents, but to our staff too! 💚

Our wonderful ladies will take the time to learn what our residents have always loved doing, what they’d like to try again, and even the things they’ve always dreamed of doing. After all, you’re never too old to discover a new hobby!

With so many creative ideas already flowing, their notebooks are filling fast. From arts and crafts to music, outings, and community connections, they’ll be making sure life at Elizabeth Gardens is full of meaningful moments and happy memories.
