👩‍⚕️💙 Happy International Nurses Day 💙👨‍⚕️

Today at Elizabeth Gardens we celebrated our amazing nurses in style! Not only the wonderful nurses who care for our residents every day, but also our residents who were nurses themselves. Between them all, there’s an incredible 150+ years of nursing experience under one roof! 😲

As nurses spend so much of their time looking after everyone else, today was all about looking after THEM! 💐 We managed to get them to take a well-earned break for a delicious lunch, beautiful cake , flowers , chocolates and some very special handmade cards created by our residents.

A huge thank you also goes to Cristina and Linda, our Deputy Manager and Home Manager, whose nursing backgrounds and experience help make Elizabeth Gardens the warm, caring home it is today. 💙

We are so proud of every single one of our nursing team! Thank you for your kindness, compassion, dedication, and for always putting our residents first. You are all stars! 🌟

Here at Porthaven Care Homes, the mental health of our residents, their loved ones and our team is incredibly important to us, which is why we work hard to ensure everybody we care for and connect with feels supported.

Every member of our team, from our carers to our head office staff, has access to confidential counselling as well as various mental health resources, and mental health awareness training is part of our induction process.

As Mind says, mental health is more than just a small part of our lives, it is connected to every little thing we do, which is why we strive to create a supportive, empowering and empathetic environment for our Porthaven people 💜

🇬🇧 VE Day at Elizabeth Gardens 🇬🇧

We are proud to support our veterans as part of the Armed Forces Covenant and through our Veteran Friendly Framework accreditation.

VE Day is such an important occasion, and we were honoured to host a veterans’ breakfast for the Milton Keynes Armed Forces Community, including residents who have served in the Armed Forces.

We also got into the spirit of the day by creating some wonderful British flags and rounding off the celebrations with a traditional sing-song led by the delightful Wendy.

This maybe a small task but so many of our residents loved gardening and we wouldn’t want to stop them! So we empower them to continue to do what they love!
