There never seems to be a perfect time to start losing weight.

Life stays busy.
Work stays busy.
Family life stays busy.

Which is why so many people locally tell me they kept meaning to come along to group in Stony Stratford on a Monday… but kept putting it off.

The good news is you don’t need the perfect week.

You just need a starting point.

And sometimes that’s simply walking through the door.

And if Monday is no good for you then I also have groups on Wednesday and Thursday, just give drop me a message got more info

So many people tell me:

“I just need a fresh start.”

But progress rarely comes from dramatic fresh starts.

It usually comes from small decisions made in ordinary weeks.

Coming back to group isn’t about starting perfectly again.

It’s about continuing.

Thinking of joining? No need to book in advance, just turn up at the start of one of the sessions.

Feeling nervous and want a chat before you join drop me a message or give me a call on 07886 808205

Something I’ve noticed over the years is this.

People rarely struggle because they don’t care.

They struggle because they’re doing everything on their own.

Trying to stay motivated on your own.
Trying to stay consistent on your own.
Trying to stay positive on your own.

That’s hard.

Support changes things.

Not because someone tells you what to do.

But because someone reminds you that you’re still doing better than you think you are.

And sometimes that reminder is exactly what keeps someone going for another week.

I’ll start again Monday.”

It sounds sensible.

It feels organised.

But it quietly keeps people stuck.

Because what it really means is:

“I’ll be perfect next time.”

And perfection never arrives.

The people who make progress long term don’t wait for Mondays.

They make small adjustments on ordinary days.

A better choice at lunch.
A short walk after dinner.
Stopping one decision earlier than usual.

Progress doesn’t come from dramatic restarts.

It comes from small decisions made today.

One of the things I hear most often is:

“I should know better.”

From people who have lost weight before.
From people who understand the plan.
From people who have done brilliantly in the past.

And yet they’re struggling again.

There’s so much frustration in that sentence.

But here’s the truth.

Knowing what to do and finding it easy to do it are not the same thing.

Life changes. Stress changes. Energy changes.

So if things feel harder than they used to, it doesn’t mean you’ve failed.

It just means you’re human and your circumstances have shifted.

The answer isn’t starting again from scratch.

It’s finding a way forward that works for the life you have now.

The hardest weeks aren’t the ones where everything goes smoothly.

They’re the ones where everything feels a bit off.

You’re tired.
Life is busy.
Things don’t quite go to plan.

And that’s usually the point where people start to drift.

Not because they don’t care.

But because they feel like they’ve already “messed it up.”

This is exactly why support matters.

Not for the good weeks.

For the difficult ones.

The ones where you need reminding that you haven’t undone everything.
The ones where you need a bit of perspective, not pressure.

Because success isn’t about getting it right all the time.

It’s about not walking away when it gets hard.

And that’s something you don’t have to do on your own

Motivation isn’t the reason most people struggle with weight loss.

Consistency is.

And not because people don’t want to be consistent.

But because they’re trying to be consistent in a way that doesn’t fit their life.

All or nothing.
Perfect or failed.
On track or off track.

There’s no room for real life in that.

And real life always shows up.

The people who succeed long term aren’t the most motivated.

They’re the ones who find a way to keep going…

Even when it’s messy.
Even when it’s not perfect.
Even when they don’t feel like it.

That’s the difference

Today I felt real pride and I saw total grit and determination.

Three times a year Redway Runners have beginners groups taking total beginners to 5k in around 10 weeks. I co-lead the 7pm Friday group.

Today was their Milton Keynes parkrun graduation.

They all smashed it.

Ten weeks ago when we started on a cold January night they had no belief that they would run 5k.

Today the smiles on their faces as they crossed the finish line said it all.

Most things in life need grit and determination and seeing people dig deep and achieve their dreams makes me so proud.

What makes it easier for most of them is doing it as part of a group with plenty of support around.

To be honest, it's pretty similar to losing weight. It's not easy and it does mean making tough choices.

But when you're surrounded by people striving for the same thing, it makes it a lot easier.

Dig deep, keep going and never give up on a dream.

What or who are you proud of today?

Last night I didn’t sleep properly. 😴

And today? Everything feels harder. 😭

Food choices feel harder.
Motivation feels lower.
Patience is thinner.

And it would be very easy to think, “I’ve just got no willpower today.”

But that’s not actually what’s going on.

This is exactly what I see so often.

It’s not a lack of motivation.
It’s fatigue.

When you’re tired, everything feels like more effort. Of course it does.

Which is why weight loss can feel so inconsistent.

Not because you’re inconsistent.

Because life is.

If today feels harder, it doesn’t mean you’ve failed.

It just means you’re human. ❤️
