Do you know which FORM of B-vitamins you’re taking?

Whether your B-vitamins come from a multivitamin or a B-complex, one detail really matters:

⚡️ Is it methylated?

How do you know? Check the label and read the forms.

You want to see folate listed as methylfolate and B12 as methylcobalamin, the body-ready forms.

If your supplement uses folic acid or cyanocobalamin, your body has to convert them first. For many people, that conversion isn’t very efficient, especially under stress or if you have certain genetic variations.

That’s why the form matters.

💊 Our Super-B Complex includes methylfolate and methylcobalamin - the active forms your body can recognise and use straight away.

Getting the forms right can make a big difference to how you feel.

Feeling low or drained? Vitamins could make a bigger difference than you think.

🌞 Vitamin D - Often called the “sunshine vitamin,” low levels are linked with seasonal low mood and fatigue.

• Found in oily fish, eggs, and fortified foods, but most people need supplements to reach optimal levels.
• Typical supportive doses are 1000–2000 IU/day, but it’s best to check your blood levels first. Ask your healthcare professional for a blood test to guide the right dose for you.

Vitamin D blood targets:
• Deficient: below 25 nmol/L
• Insufficient: 25 to 50 nmol/L
• Adequate for most people: 50 to 75 nmol/L
• Optimal / supportive range: 75 to 125 nmol/L

💊 B Vitamins – Especially B6, B12, and folate support the methylation cycle, which is key for making mood-related neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine.

• When this cycle slows, homocysteine can rise, potentially affecting mood and cognitive function.
• Methylated forms (methylcobalamin for B12, methylfolate for folate) are more efficiently used by the body.

⚠️ Factors that increase your needs: Stress, poor sleep, high alcohol intake, certain medications.

Tip: A high-potency b-complex with methylated forms plus vitamin D supplementation can be an effective step to support mood and energy, especially if low mood or low energy is persistent.

Going vegan this Veganuary? 🌱

A vegan lifestyle can absolutely be healthy, but some nutrients need extra attention:

✨ Vitamin B12 - essential for energy and nerve health. Most vegans need a supplement.

✨ Omega-3s - important for heart and brain health. Flax, chia, and walnuts help, but an algae-based supplement ensures you get enough omega-3 EPA and DHA.

✨ Calcium - key for strong bones. Include fortified plant drinks, tofu, broccoli, almonds, and tahini daily.

✨ Vitamin D - supports bone health and immunity. Sunlight helps, but a supplement is often needed, especially in winter.

✨ Iron - vital for energy and blood health. Lentils, beans, and spinach help, and pairing with vitamin C, such as a squeeze of lemon over your greens or strawberries in your pudding, boosts absorption.

✨ Iodine - important for thyroid health and mostly found in animal-based foods like dairy products and fish. Vegans can meet their needs by using iodised salt and choosing a good-quality multivitamin.

With the right diet and supplements, vegan living can be balanced, energising, and sustainable.

🧠 Struggling with mood and need more targeted support? EPA may be the game changer.

💡 It supports healthy signalling and inflammatory pathways.

When EPA is low, these systems can become less steady, which may affect mood.

💊 Research suggests around 1 g of EPA per day can help rebalance omega-3 status.

🧪 If you want to dig deeper, your omega-3 biomarkers can reveal a lot. The Opti-O-3 igennus home test kit provides a full range of biomarkers and a personalised dose.

🔬 Why consider Pharmepa RESTORE?

• High strength. 1 g of pure, high absorption EPA per 2 capsule serving
• Ultra concentrated. Therapeutic levels without multiple capsules
• IFOS certified for purity and potency
• Ethically sourced and refined for exceptional stability
• Designed specifically for intensive mood and brain support

➡️ If mood is a concern, a targeted EPA supplement is a strong starting point.
DHA can be introduced after a 3 to 6 month loading phase.

🔄 We have developed the follow on product, Pharmepa COMPLETE.
EPA and DHA for ongoing support, with GLA from evening primrose oil for synergistic benefits.

🥗 Pair with omega-3 rich foods for a stronger nutritional foundation.

When it comes to supplementation, the truth is some nutrients, like omega-3, vitamin D or minerals, take weeks to months to restore optimal levels, and their benefits build gradually.

But other nutrients work through faster pathways. B-vitamins, electrolytes and magnesium can sometimes be felt within hours or days, especially when levels are low.

Both timelines are normal and valid.
Good supplementation is about consistency, proper nutrient replenishment, and long-term change, not quick fixes. If you’re ever unsure, you can chat to our in-house team of nutritionists over live chat, or book a free consultation. ---> https://igennus.com/pages/book-a-consultation

Feeling low and not sure why? Omega-3 intake may be part of the picture.

🧠 Omega-3 fats support brain function and mood balance

🐟 People with low mood often have lower levels of EPA and DHA

💊 Many standard fish oil supplements sold in UK supermarkets and pharmacies provide only around 250 to 300 mg combined EPA and DHA per daily serving.

This is because a typical capsule contains about 1,000 mg of fish oil, but 30 percent is EPA and DHA, and most products recommend one capsule per day. So while the label may say “1,000 mg fish oil”, the active omega-3 content is often modest.

At Igennus, we offer more concentrated supplements providing at least 600 mg of high absorption EPA and DHA, helping to close the gap between intake and need.

🌱 Prefer not to use fish oils? Algae-based omega-3 provides EPA and DHA without fish

🥗 Food sources matter too. Salmon, sardines and mackerel are rich in EPA and DHA

Small amounts of plant-based ALA from flax, chia and walnuts convert to EPA and DHA, but conversion is limited.

If mood is a concern, it is worth checking whether you are getting enough of the active forms and adjusting food and supplement choices accordingly.

💾 Save this for later.

This year does not need extreme changes. It needs repeatable ones.

⏳ Research shows habits do not form in 21 days, as once thought. For most people, it takes closer to two months, and sometimes much longer, for a behaviour to feel automatic.

Missing a day is not a failure. Consistency over time matters far more than perfection.

🔁 If you want habits that last, they have to work with your life, not against it. Extreme resolutions can sound motivating, but they rarely survive the demands of busy schedules, parenting, work, or real-world energy levels.

Habits take time, enjoyment helps, and flexibility matters.

💚 At Igennus, we believe sustainable health should feel supportive, not punishing.

💬 Comment with one small habit you feel confident you can repeat this week.

Nutrition science is complex — but your experience of it shouldn’t be.

At Igennus, our job is to make evidence-based nutrition simple, practical and empowering, so you feel clarity, confidence and get results… not confusion.

As we step into a new year, I want to restate what we stand for as a brand. Our purpose remains the same today as it was at the start: to translate robust nutrition science into products and guidance that genuinely help real people achieve better health and a more fulfilling life.

That means:

- simplifying nutrition science into clear, useful content

- providing personalised support so you can make informed choices

- making high-quality products as accessible as possible

- staying up-to-date with scientific developments so our guidance evolves with the evidence

We want good health to feel achievable — not overwhelming. And as we move into 2026, we’re more committed than ever to cutting through the noise, setting a higher standard in our industry, and making evidence-based nutrition feel simple, accessible and genuinely life-enhancing.

At Igennus we’re fortunate to have a team with strong technology backgrounds — including our founder, Jav, who previously ran a software consultancy. We’re proud to bring this expertise together with our broader vision for personalised health support.

This January, we’re revealing something we’ve been working on behind the scenes for months: an innovative new tool designed to support your wellbeing in smarter, more intuitive ways.

Here’s to a year of clarity, confidence and better health.
