📰 MINEHEAD MEDICAL CENTRE UPDATE

We are pleased to share a brief update on recent developments at Minehead Medical Centre, including progress in workforce expansion, service improvements, and ongoing recruitment.

💼 Workforce - New Recruits
Welcome to all of our new recruits!
• Dr Sum Dahanayake - salaried remote GP - 2 days/week
• Dr Sally Adiei - salaried on-site GP - 3 days/week
• Full time pharmacist due to start soon
• Full medical secretary team recruited

📍Plans - We looking into purchasing a blood pressure machine for the waiting room to enable patients to take their own blood pressure.

🔎 Further recruitment - We are looking for a community matron and a GP with a special interest in palliative care. Adverts are live on our digital job board: https://www.jobtrain.co.uk/onemedicalgroup/Home/Job

💬 Feedback - We have received some feedback around the new total triage system. We are constantly reviewing the process and discussing the feedback raised in order to improve the service. The feedback raised was around acknowledgment of requests and response times. As a result of a review of the process, we have designed and implemented an extra step to ensure patients are kept informed about their requests.

17/03/2026

Cases of invasive meningococcal disease (MenB) have been confirmed in Kent. UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) is running a targeted MenB vaccination programme only for students living in halls at the University of Kent. This is not a wider public programme at this time.

UKHSA has said the programme may expand as they continue to assess the situation, but no broader rollout has yet been announced.

If you’ve been advised to check your vaccination history (e.g., by a university), you can view your past vaccines via the NHS App under your GP health record.

NOTICE: We are not currently able to offer MenB vaccinations unless national guidance changes - with exception to eligible children who are invited as part of the routine UK immunisation schedule'

It's important to know the signs of symptoms of meningitis and septicaemia. Get more info from http://nhs.uk/conditions/meningitis

We’ll keep you updated as guidance develops.
