We are aware of the meningitis B outbreak in the local area and understand this may cause concern for some of our patients.
Symptoms of meningitis or septicemia can include:
- Sudden high fever
- Severe Headache
- Stiff Neck
- Vomiting or diarrhea
- Sensitivity to bright lights
- Confusion or unusual drowsiness
- Seizures
- Very cold hands and feet
- Joint or muscle pain
- A rash that does not fade when pressed
If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, please do not attend your dental appointment. Seek urgent medical attention at your nearest A&E department, where teams are already managing cases.
As a precaution, if you have a cough, cold, flu like symptoms, or feel generally unwell, please contact the practice to rearrange your appointment.
If you do not have symptoms but are worried, please do not contact the practice or A&E. You can instead seek advice from UKHSA at: phe.sshpu@nhs.net
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation during this time.
If you have any dental-related queries about your appointment, please contact the practice and our team will be happy to help.
Kind regards,
The Abbey Dental Care Team
