We had a lady from ‘Give a Few Words’ charity come in to run a session with the residents.

They made post cards to send to loved ones (let us know if you receive them)

We had a look through the volunteer Bev’s collection and had a great reminiscence about holidays abroad and in the UK.

We would love to receive postcards from everyone’s holidays over the summer months. If you would like to send one to the home or your loved one so we can share with everyone.
Especially staff, as the residents would love to hear about what you’ve got up to whilst you’re away from work!

Postcards seem to be a thing of the past now, but did you know you can create one online to be sent direct to us?

We have been very busy in ‘Knit & Natter’

We have been knitting squares with the help from other staff and their families to make some blankets for the Brontë Birth Centre in Dewsbury.

We delivered around 20 blankets the other week and spoke to Kai & Naomi at the unit, they took time out of their busy day to explain the service to Audrey & Gill. They said the had only just re-opened earlier in the year and wanted to spread the word of their services, so we thought we would help out. The centre was very clean and a relaxed environment and we spoke how much hospitals had changed over the years.

Today we recieved a thank you card from the centre, which is much appreciated 🧶

And just wanted to mention a big Thank You to Jackie who volunteers with us on a Wednesday and spends hours putting the blankets together at home!

Household activities are so important to those living within a care home, we always encourage those that want to help out where possible, weather it be setting the tables, bringing their empty cups to the kitchen, organising games that may have missing pieces.
