Have you ever thought that cooking can be used as a mindfulness exercise? By taking notice of the process of preparing the food, cooking it and then of course, eating it, it can help to anchor us in the present.
Next time you cook a meal, notice how it feels to chop the vegetables or stir ingredients, notice the texture as you taste-test or how the smells change as you add a new ingredient. Bringing ourselves back to the present moment and paying attention to tasks such as cooking a meal can bring calm and peacefulness. Mindfully cooking a nutritious (and delicious!) meal is a great way of showing ourselves self-care!

If you would like to find out more about the relationship between Food and Mood, why not join us on our upcoming online wellbeing workshop that explores that topic:

Self-Care Sunday: Embrace Balance This Autumn Equinox

As the autumn equinox brings equal day and night, it's a natural moment to reflect on balance in our own lives. This week, consider dedicating a few minutes to a grounding meditation to reconnect with yourself.

Try this beginner-friendly meditation:

Find a quiet space where you can sit comfortably.

Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths.

Focus on your breath, gently bringing your attention back if your mind wanders.

Notice the sensations in your body and the environment around you.

For a guided experience, explore the NHS's beginner-friendly meditation video: How to Meditate for Beginners- https://www.nhs.uk/every-mind-matters/mental-wellbeing-tips/how-to-meditate-for-beginners/

Remember, self-care is about finding moments of peace amidst the busyness of life. Embrace this season of balance and give yourself permission to pause.
