It can be hard sometimes to put what we need first but getting rest and relaxation supports our overall wellbeing, so our Winter Wellbeing tip is about staying in and getting cosy! Wrap up warm, watch a funny film, read a book while enjoying a hot drink or try journalling. Whatever getting cosy or relaxation means to you, taking some time for self-care can help us to feel good for the rest of the week!

If you find it difficult to relax or would like to learn more about this topic, Merton Talking Therapies is holding an online Relaxation Techniques workshop on 18th December. For more information and to register, please visit our Eventbrite page:

Today is World Diabetes Day. This years theme is Diabetes and Wellbeing. Diabetes can affect people at any stage of life so it is all about raising awareness. The World Health Organisation (WHO) said diabetes prevention and care must be integrated across life stages. Supporting wellbeing and self-care can empower people with diabetes.

We understand that living with a long term health condition can be difficult. Merton Talking Therapies offer support for those living with long term health conditions including diabetes. If you are struggling with your mental health and have diabetes, you can self refer on our website: https://swlstg.nhs.uk/merton-talking-therapies or phone our admin line on 020 3513 5888 who will help you to book an initial appointment.

This World Kindness Day, we are reflecting on the power of kindness - not just towards others, but towards ourselves too.

Being kind to yourself is not selfish; it is an important part of looking after your wellbeing. Taking time to rest, speaking to yourself with compassion, and reaching out for support when things feel difficult are all powerful ways to nurture your mental health and wellbeing.

Recent research has shown that compassion can help to maintain our wellbeing alongside practising breathing techniques, meditation, and mindfulness. We will be covering this in our upcoming ‘Self-Care and Compassion’ wellbeing workshop on 25th November, which will focus on the importance of self-care, self-compassion and kindness towards ourselves.

You can sign up by visiting our Eventbrite page: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/self-care-and-compassion-wellbeing-workshop-online-tickets-1932211459489?

When things get difficult, maybe our mood is low or we might be feeling more anxious or stressed than usual, taking some time to reflect on our self-care and compassion can help us to manage these feelings and emotions.

Our upcoming Self-Care and Compassion wellbeing workshop explores how we can take time to prioritise our self-care and be self-compassionate towards ourselves. We will explore what self-care and compassion looks like and provide tools to help introduce these into our daily lives to support our wellbeing.

To register for this workshop, scan the QR code or sign up via our Eventbrite page: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/self-care-and-compassion-wellbeing-workshop-online-tickets-1932211459489?
