This week, the residents enthusiastically welcomed another visit from VR-Inspired, which delivers exceptional virtual reality experiences.

Virtual reality (VR) is a cutting-edge technology that generates immersive environments filled with lifelike scenes and objects, allowing users to fully engage with their surroundings. This captivating experience is facilitated by advanced virtual reality headsets.

The residents absolutely love exploring the wildlife of South Africa and feel the exhilarating sensation of being part of an orchestra.

Last week, we were delighted to host the Performing Arts Alive Theatre, who traveled from the Bahamas to perform for our residents. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the performance and even joined in by dancing along to the music.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Performing Arts Alive Theatre for providing our residents with such an enjoyable afternoon.

We had an amazing week leading up to Easter! We created beautiful Easter cards and enjoyed flower arranging together. On Good Friday, we crafted stunning Easter centerpieces for the dining room tables. In the afternoon, the residents delighted in hot cross buns with their tea or coffee.

On Easter Sunday, we distributed Easter eggs and held a meaningful church service in the afternoon for residents who chose to attend. We rounded off the Easter celebrations on Bank Holiday Monday by making Easter egg melt drinking chocolate. It was truly a special celebration!

Let’s take a moment to reflect on World Theatre Day!

World Theatre Day (WTD) is an important international observance that takes place every year on March 27. Established in 1961 by the International Theatre Institute, it recognises the power of theatre as an art form. A special shout-out to David Blake, who captivated audiences as Banzai in the West End production of The Lion King, for sharing his remarkable talents with the residents.

We were also thrilled to have Lanya James, a talented West End performer and actress, who delivered an unforgettable performance by singing two powerful songs from The Lion King musical. These moments genuinely highlight the magic of theatre!

Residents enthusiastically participate in our weekly outings, eagerly exploring new destinations. They relish the opportunity to visit unique spots, like the pop-up café at St. Mary's Beddington Church. Our residents take part in shopping trips, discover diverse cafés, enjoy pub visits, and take joyful strolls in the park, fondly reminiscing about their childhood.

We held a red-nose competition in the lead-up to the big day. Participants were invited to guess how many buttons were in a glass jar, and both relatives and staff joined in the fun.

We had joint winners: congratulations to Georgina from the kitchen staff and Diane, one of our relatives!

On the day of the event, we planted red noses in our garden and the courtyard that connects to the activity room.

On Friday afternoon, the sun was shining, and we took full advantage of it. We had an incredible shopping trip at M&S and Sainsbury's Savercentre, and we capped off the day with a delightful pot of tea and coffee in the M&S café. It was a fantastic experience!
