Chances are you are reading this on a phone with your head down.
When our ears are in line with our shoulders, the weight of the head puts a load of about 10-12 pounds on the muscles of the neck. The further forward the head is, this can increase to as much as 60 pounds!
Text neck refers to neck, shoulder, upper back pain, or headaches, caused by repeated strain from looking down at your phone for long periods of time.
It can range from chronic nagging pain to sharp severe pain and muscle spasm.
Long term, this can lead to more serious issues such as:
▶️ Early onset arthritis
▶️ Changes in the spinal curves (upper back hump)
▶️ Disc compression or herniation
▶️ Nerve damage
▶️ Weakness and numbness in the arms or hands
