A huge thank you to Deeside Round Table for their generous donation to fund a power pack for Lewis's chair - it has meant that his family can finally get out with him for a walk around the village rather than having to drive to somewhere flatter 💙
We have another story of how Deeside Round Table has lifted the lives of those around us, this is also an opportunity to give you a little more insight as to where some of our funds go...
A few weeks ago we heard about a young strong-willed lad called Lewis White, a 13-year-old who has a remarkable story. He's spent a significant portion of his life in Alder Hey hospital after suffering a stroke at the age of 7 and associated life-threatening complications. Having gone from being a healthy little boy, he's now unable to move independently, talk or feed and can only communicate by blinking.
Lewis is the toughest, most determined boy his friends and family have the honour to know. He fights every day to gain more movement with courage and spirit, a truly amazing and unwavering young lad.
We reached out to Lewis' family to ask if there's anything we could help with. They required a motor that could be fitted to his chair to make it more mobile. We were more than happy to contribute £835 towards the power pack, and in doing so, aid his rehabilitation.
Lewis' mum, Sharon, said "We haven't been able to walk him around Mynydd Isaacs as it's too steep, but as you can see from these photos, since having the motor fitted we managed to get him out on a Sunday walk around the block with his best friend Jessie. It has meant the world to us to be able to just get out and have a walk together"
Lewis, we salute you. At times of challenge and adversity you have shown true strength. A remarkable hero! Your family, friends and community are proud of you.
