The tidy up gave me the excuse to recess the quartz slab in to my bench top, which is going to make such a difference to tooling.

This is the last thing I made, and it’s was finished Xmas Eve. I’m getting an itch to make again, but from now on I’ll only be making for me. Xmas markets just destroyed my confidence, they always do.

Less than 12 hours ago, I was a mumbling, sobbing mess in my kitchen, on the phone to a friend, being hugged by my missus. I’m not myself and haven’t been for a while. But I’ve had to keep on keeping on, for my family, to support and provide for them. I’m still gonna keep on doing that, but I want to share this purely to help just one other fella find the courage to speak.

Just the weight of everything. Just don’t know what it is! I’ve got this big bubble in my chest , though it can leave me breathless at times. Mind a hundred miles an hour, tingles in my arms or hands, just restless, but no energy or interest in anything. I feel dazzled and disoriented.

Everything feels heavy, or restrictive. Everything takes effort. All of it. It’s so alien to me, I know I’m being affected but I don’t have a clue what it is, or how to deal with it.

Failure has a lot to do with this weight. 2023 has been a rough year. Giving up uni to be an NHS ODP (should have stayed on paramedics course but thems the choices you make), then having to leave an NHS theatre assistant job because we needed the money to be able to move house after the landlords decided to sell up, totally nose diving at setting up a leatherwork business several times. Yes there’s been good and great times, but man those were brief respite.

I had 20 minutes to pull myself together to get gone for a 12 hour night shift on my own. It hasn’t helped. Talking has not helped one bit. But now I’ve said it all aloud I have to deal with it and admit it. And I will be getting help to deal with it.

I’m just not right. And I feel worse saying and hearing it. I’m not being bombed or persecuted, I’m not homeless or have addiction issues, I have a job and a home and all the things it comes with. It’s all too easy and it all feels pointless. Clutter. Cluttered mind. Squirrels in the head running the show. F**k sake.

Tomorrow be a stitchin kinda day after an early rise, drawing a new floral pattern involving #floriography and western inspired scrolls and tooling a feather patterned ladies cinch belt.

Ooooh a new leather lacing tool hit the workshop this weekend! And it’s a lovely lookin tool too! All I need to do is make a nice bench mount for and I’ll be making some damn good leather string for whippin and buck stitchin!
