Gordon broke his back in an industrial accident, meaning their families dream of rearing animals and growing their own food had to be put on hold. Gordon suffers from Chronic and has huge mobility issues. Sitting in a car for any length of time causes pain induced blackouts and on a bad day he cant stand up, so a “normal” job is out of the question. One Christmas, in an effort to give presents (without spending much money) Gordon made some lovely things from wood. Everybody seemed delighted with their handmade gifts, so he got the confidence to experiment and try some more ideas out. One thing led to another and as the orders started to come in they converted an old building into a workshop (his Emporium) and invested in some big boys toys to make the work easier. No computers, no automated processes – everything done by hand. Now Gordon works as and when he feels able – even when that means it’s 3 in the morning when his machines are running. Gordon and Julie make everything from trinket boxes, key rings, fairy houses and memorial urns for pets and pyrography. If it’s made form wood, they can do it. Recently they've been diversifying – adding to their brand with ranges of home made jam and hand made healthy dog treats - my doggy is very excited about those! :D ###
