Good morning from a dry at the moment North Sperrins. Social media not really my thing as many probably quessed by now . Update this new season and what a nightmare spring so far with wind rain but unfortunately we have to take what we get.
Moving forward this year with other growing commitments at the Herb Farm I've had to take the decision only to do Herbs this year. Over the past 3 years we've dabbled a bit with perrinals ,roses, bedding etc but this market has become totally saturated with every shop door now doing plants .
So for me it's back to my passion Herbs . With my other growing commitments its not possible for me to be open to you my customers my supporters full time. We plan to have special weekends opening to be confirmed very soon .
I would urge everyone to support your local small businesses garden center, nursery farmgate ect , the one that puts money back into there local community . Small business face challenges that multi nationals profit from, so get behind ur small business .( Rant over )🙈

Choose LOCAL!

Today I had a super tasty steak dinner with local beef and local veg (potatoes, beetroot, parsley).

Eating local not only supports the farmers to sustain our agricultural sector but also has the benefit of containing a higher amount of nutrients! Which means it tastes better!

When buying meat remember to look for the country of origin and the red tractor symbol.

There are so many healthy foods that fight candida overgrowth. Candida is a toxic yeast that can easily become overgrown in our intestines when we use antibiotics, hormone treatment or antidepressants. It can also become overgrown during times of stress and it only gets worse when we eat sugar!

The candida toxins can give us symptoms such as headaches, bloating, insomnia, anxiety, dizziness, poor memory, yeast infections (thrush), fungal nail and fungal skin infections. Candida can even have an effect on our mental health, giving us brain fog, poor memory, lack of focus, fatigue and making us feel even outright depressed.

Feeding your body with foods that help fight candida can give your body the boost it needs to regaining balance between your microbes and ultimately improving your health.

"Short sleep predicts all cause mortality" - Prof Matt Walker

"Sleep is a non-negotiable biological NECESSITY. It is your life-support system. I believe it is now time for us to reclaim our right to a full night of sleep, and without embarrassment or that unfortunate stigma of laziness" - Prof Matt Walker

This 20min TED talk is packed with information about how sleep effects our health including risk of cancer, reproduction health, risk of Alzheimer, memory & learning, aging, immune activity and genetic function.

As a person who has struggled with sleep all my life, I found this highly motivating and helpful in moving toward my goal of maintaining good sleep hygiene.

Prof Matt Walker goes on to give us tips on how to improve sleep hygiene:
- Avoid alcohol and caffeine.
- Avoid naps if you are struggling with sleep at night.
- Regularity is king! Go to bed and wake up at the same time EVERY day.
- Keep it cool. We need to drop our body temperature to go to sleep and stay asleep. Aim for around 18 degrees celsius.
