This week we’ve been talking all about about goals and how important it is to know what you want to work towards.

Tonight, as our final point of reflection on the topic, I want to encourage you to get really clear on what it is that you’d like to achieve or accomplish.

Really spend some time thinking about what the end result is going to look like. The more you detail it, easier it is to plan for it and keep that momentum going.

Can you take a moment? Sometimes when you’re in the middle of doing something that you’d rather not be doing, you can feel your emotional state dip. If you stop and take a moment (a few minutes or even quarter of an hour) and connect with someone or something totally separate to what you were doing, you can completely change your emotional frequency. Think of it like a mini reset.
The next time you’re not feeling your best, give it a try 🙂

Mindfulness Woodland Sounds: Can anyone identify the sound at 52 seconds?
It sounds like bicycle brakes but is it a bird, a tree or a trumpet! What on earth was in the woods?

In my experience, therapy is a place where you learn to look at yourself, explore who you really are and consider who you’d like to become.
I can only speak for myself on this one but I changed a lot as a result of my therapy. It was a journey, for sure.
But it didn’t end there. Following therapy I experienced a phase of ‘embedding’ where I would keep referring back to the things we had discussed. The more I mulled it over, the further I changed.
I definitely think I know myself better than I ever have but I think I’m constantly learning and adapting. As a result of the work I did I’m able to face my flaws and check them. I’m able to see the parts of me that are imperfect; without being afraid to look. I’m able to welcome exploration of myself and bravely dabble with alternative ways of being.
The journey is never over if you’ve been inspired to keep adapting.

Are you feeling lonely and missing being able to hug the people you love the most? In my experience this is a huge problem for many of us at the moment so I've put together a list of ways that you can soothe these deeply uncomfortable feelings.
Please share this post as it might really help someone who is struggling today, thank you.

When Hugs are in Short Supply Why are hugs so important? Interestingly it's not the hug that's important but what it does to us that matters! Physical touch and stimulation of the skin releases a chemical in our brain called oxytocin, and it's this which we need to keep well stocked. Why? Well becau...

Because I want to listen!
How often do we have things we wish we could say but a sense of having no one to talk to. Perhaps a partner who won’t understand, friends too busy with their own problems, siblings who take the moral high ground or parents who criticise. You can feel full of thoughts but empty of places to share them.
I’m someone who wants to hear what you’re thinking, how you’re feeling, the good stuff and bad bits. I offer a place where you can talk to me about anything and together we’ll work to work it out.
◽️
There’s no such thing as irrelevant, pointless, meaningless, stupid or too awful in therapy. Everything you want to say is something I want to hear.
◽️
So if you want to talk, you’re welcome to talk to me.

I find this to be such a useful question which can be used in a variety of different scenarios:
↩️ Think back to when you were 15 (for example). Think about the biggest things going on in your life and the major worries and concerns that you had. Now consider what you’d tell that 15yr old you if you could go back and support them!
↩️ How about the same question for other ages in your life?
↩️ How about at times when you’ve been extremely anxious or unbelievably sad?
↩️ How about the day you found out you were being asked to go into lockdown?
↩️ Or what about at a time when you lost something really important to you ... a job, an opportunity or a relationship?
🤔
Often what I find is that with time, we gain entirely different perspectives on things that initially felt unbearable, overwhelming, frightening etc.
💡
Answers to these types of questions can teach us a lot about our patterns of responding to triggers, both in terms of what we do habitually and what we might seek to change.
🤔
Do you have an example of something you initially felt overwhelmed by but looking back, you’d advise your former self to handle it completely differently? If so feel free to share it with me below 👇🏻

Now I get how this could sound patronising but let me explain:
🌿 Firstly and most importantly I understand feelings and how to connect with them. So although I I haven’t lived your experiences (and will never pretend that I have), I’ve certainly gone through a rollercoaster of emotions in my time. Therefore when you describe a situation and express the feelings attached to it, I’m able to draw upon my own understanding of emotions to make sure our empathic connection is as strong as possible. By listening to you describe the situation, I then pair the information and the feelings together so that I understand how it feels to be you, as best as humanly possible.
🌿 Secondly, I’ve had hundreds of hours of therapy, so I definitely understand what it’s like to engage in the process. I can relate completely to the vast array of emotions that you go through as you explore yourself. The major highs of breaking through your own barriers and the lows of exploring your pain. The ups, downs, twists and turns of therapy can be exhausting but also unbelievably rewarding.
🌿 Thirdly I’m not afraid to ask for clarity. So if I notice a lack of understanding, I’ll own it and ask for you to explain further. I want to understand and I can’t stress that enough. I have a strong desire to make you feel heard and understood so if there’s ever a time where we’re not aligned, it won’t last for long.
Not every conversation with friends, family, peers or colleagues leaves you feeling understood, but in therapy it’s one of the primary aims!

So I've been doing something a little bit different this week ... lying on the floor outside, standing in streams and sitting in a field full of sheep ... it's been fun! But the reason for all of these random antics is so that I can share some minfulness footage with you. Lockdown is really wearing thin for some people and the need to feel less stressed is growing by the day! Hopefully these little 'time-outs' will really help people to get in touch with nature and provide a prompt for some mindfulness. Full descriptions of how to be mindful can be found in the video descriptions or on my website blog post:

I hope you enjoy watching them as much as I enjoyed making them 😊
