The School Nursing service are running catch up immunisation clinics over the summer holidays for young people aged 12 – 16 (those who were in year 8 - 11 this academic year) who have missed any of the below immunisations:
• Human Papilloma Virus (HPV)
• 3-in-1 teenage booster
• Men ACWY

Autumn flu clinics. We are planning to hold the first clinics on the 4th, 5th, 11th and 12th of October. We will be offering free flu and covid vaccinations (subject to eligibility). Please save the date and look out for further details at the end of the summer (we are not taking bookings yet).

Your Meds Matter – Only Order What You Need
Did you know around £9.6 million is wasted every year in Gwent on unused or unnecessary repeat prescriptions? That’s money, medicines, and care going to waste and we need your help to change that.
Staying Well: Medicines can expire and may not work as they should. Stockpiling can lead to drug shortages, putting others at risk.
Staying Safe: Unused meds at home are a danger to children and pets. They’re prescribed just for you, never share them.
Staying Green: Once medicines leave the pharmacy, they can’t be reused. Hand unused meds back to your pharmacy and help protect our environment
Here’s how you can help:
✅ Check what you already have before ordering more.
✅ Open your prescription bag at the pharmacy and return anything you don’t need before leaving.
✅ Talk to your pharmacy team if your meds have changed or you're not taking something anymore.
Together, we can cut waste, protect our environment, and keep Gwent healthy.

Every month the GPs and staff at Castle Gate have appointments with more than 6,000 patients, answer more than 12,500 phone calls, dispense over 11,500 prescription items from our dispensary, process over 5,000 emails, letters and text messages and refer more than 600 patients for further investigations or treatment in secondary care. We all do our very best to ensure that this goes smoothly and without problems however sometimes things do not go as planned. If you have any concerns about the care that you have received, we encourage you to talk to someone at the practice directly.

We all come to work to help patients and to provide the best care possible, even when faced with reduced funding and increased pressures created as a result of situations beyond our control such as lengthy waiting times in secondary care. The people who work at your GP practice are people who live amongst you in your community. We ask everyone to engage with respect both online and in person. Online spaces are shared environments, and kindness goes a long way.
