My name is Lorraine.

I have worked as a qualified nurse for more than 30 years and have now trained in some holistic therapies including Reflexology, Reiki, Thaï foot Massage and Kinesiology. I am also a Reiki Master a Teacher and so now also offer training and attunements for those wishing to start their own Reiki journey. My experience as a nurse means that I have a very good understanding of many health matters and how conditions can impact on a persons quality of life. Many health problems are related to stress and trauma and this can affect our bodies in many ways, complementary and holistic therapies work through relaxation and realigning our natural energies allowing the body to heal itself and enable it to cope more readily with our busy lifestyles. I am based in Redbrook, in the beautiful Wye Valley and have a lovely dedicated therapy space in my home. I am also able to offer a mobile service for those who are unable to travel to me. My experience as a community nurse has taught me that many people who really need this type of service can not access it because of inability to travel or leave the home, so a mobile service is important to reach those people.

essential oils are not just for the therapy room, they give lovely scents to anywhere in the house and have a therapeutic effect too.

Safer than candles, especially with children and pets around.

Today I’m using Air in the kitchen, it has a lovely fresh smell and great when you’re feeling a bit stuffy.

Although Kinesiology is one of the fastest growing modalities in the UK, we often get asked what it is and how it works!

This post gives a short explanation of the magic that happens in a session.

Systematic Kinesiologists use muscle response testing as a way of reading the energetic bio feedback system from your body.

Each muscle we test is linked to a meridian (energy pathway), an organ and an emotion.

If a muscle tests strong, we know that the body is in balance in that corresponding 'system'. If a muscle tests weak or hypertonic (overly strong), we know there is an imbalance in that system or circuit.

We then work to restore balance to all of the areas the body has confirmed are priority through muscle testing. There may be physical, biochemical, emotional or electrical (energetic) imbalances. Often there are imbalances in all 4 realms.

Using specific tools and techniques such as; massaging neuro lymphatic points, holding neuro vascular points, running meridians to encourage the flow of energy, emotional stress release, nutritional support and electrical balancing, Kinesiologists work to bring the body back into balance.

Not only will you immediately feel different and more relaxed, your body will confirm through a strong muscle response that a natural balanced state has been restored.

Kinesiology is like MAGIC! ✨ Many of our clients describe this way too.

There are many benefits to choosing Kinesiology for your health and wellbeing needs.

Here are just a few of them:
✅It's natural and promotes natural self-healing
✅It heals the root of the issue
✅It's holistic
✅It focuses on the whole person
✅It's simple
✅It's non-invasive
✅It's effective

Kinesiology considers the WHOLE person - body, mind, soul - and leaves no stone unturned when it comes to finding and fixing the root cause of imbalances.

Every session works on clients across the following realms:

⭐️Mental/Emotional - concerned with our thinking, reasoning, feeling, emotions and spirit, plus our connection to a higher power.

⭐️Chemical - concerned with ensuring there is a free flow of energy in terms of the way our bodies work and how alert and focused the mind is.
Everything we are exposed to - from what we eat, drink, breathe, touch (think the products we use) - will have differing degrees of preservatives, pollutants & toxins in them, which can cause a build up & tip the balance in our bodies and minds.

⭐️Physical - concerned with the structure, bones, muscles and posture of the body, as well as sleep quality, and whether we are rested and grounded.

⭐️Electrical/Energy - concerned with the life force energy that runs through us, which needs to be flowing freely to allow the body and mind to function at optimum levels of efficiency.

By integrating and balancing all aspects of what may be causing pain & dis-ease, the body is brought back to homeostasis, which is where self-healing occurs.

Kinesiology is a truly holistic therapy that uses muscle testing as a way to connect with & get feedback from the subconscious mind.

Each session is as unique as the individual themselves!

What we eat has an impact on our health, including our hearing.

Zinc - boosts the immunity, helps wound healing and helps to prevent ear infections, some studies have even suggested it can be useful in treating tinnitus. Dark chocolate, almonds, peanuts, lentils, cashew nuts, beef and pork.

Omega 3 - helps to strengthen blood vessels in the ears
Flax seed, chia seeds, sardines, walnuts, beef, trout, tofu, cauliflower, tuna and sprouts

Folic acid - can help reduce hearing loss
Asparagus, okra, parsley, spinach, liver, lentils, avocado and broccoli

Potassium - fluid balance in the inner ear relies on potassium, which regulates the level of fluid in the body’s tissues and blood. As we get older these levels can drop and contribute to age related hearing loss.
Low fat milk, raisins, bananas, tomatoes, spinach, melons, yoghurt, oranges, apricots and potatoes.

Magnesium - deficiency of this nutrient can cause blood vessels to shrink which can deprive the ear of oxygen.
Broccoli, bananas, spinach, potatoes, artichokes and tomatoes

Even while we sleep our ears are still working and listening.

The brain ignores most of the sounds around us except when there is a loud or unexpected noise. This is a defence mechanism that allows us to respond quickly.

Did you know that reflexology can be done on the ears?

It’s not something I offer as a service but I just wonder if, when you subconsciously rub or massage your ear, are you actually supporting a part of your body that needs some healing.

Have a look at the chart and see what you think

Some people have one episode of ear wax build up and once sorted can go for years without a problem.
Others seem to need regular syringing.

To help keep the wax soft and moving out of the ear, try using a couple of drops of olive oil once a week.

Occupation can play a part in this, if you work in a very dusty environment dust can get in your ears. The body’s defence to this foreign substance in your ear is to produce wax to try and flush the dust out.
Today we work and live in dry and warm environments and so the wax can become dry and instead of moving out of the ear canal it gradually builds up. As we get older this problem seems to become worse.

For those people who wear a hearing aid, or constantly use ear pods to listen to music, by putting something into the ear you are pushing the wax back into the ear and can gradually compact the wax, leading to build up.

Please never use cotton buds to clean the ears, they give off fibres which can irritate the ear and cause an increase in wax production, but also the tips can come off in the ear and they are very difficult to remove.
