Let’s celebrate Lindsey’s new chapter 👏

After more than a decade with Priory, Lindsey is preparing to take the next step towards independent living. Her journey shows what’s possible with determination, resilience and the right support.

When Lindsey first came to Priory, she needed significant help with daily tasks like personal hygiene, and she struggled to manage her type 1 diabetes.

Over time, with the support of the team at Beechley Drive, she has built her independent living skills - from cooking and cleaning, to budgeting and gaining qualifications at Cardiff and Vale College 🧠

Now, Lindsey is ready to move into a flat of her own - something she’s been working towards for years. Her family are incredibly proud of her progress, as are we 💙

🗣️ “Make no mistake, this is an epidemic. It's cheap, easily available and incredibly addictive.”

Dr Niall Campbell, Consultant psychiatrist and addiction specialist, recently made an appearance on ITV’s Good Morning Britain to discuss the impact of ketamine addiction on society today.

His appearance came in light of new research from Kings College London, which found ketamine-related deaths have increased 20-fold in the past decade.

Simone’s story: person-centred care in action 🙌

When Simone* first arrived at Priory Aire House, she required 2:1 support 24 hours a day, with restrictions that limited her independence.

Through collaborative work between her social worker and the Aire House team, this has gradually been reduced - always with Simone’s safety and autonomy in mind.

Today, Simone is supported on a 1:1 basis and is beginning to explore more independence, from visiting her local shop, to attending a football match in the community ⚽

Each step reflects her progress, confidence and right to lead a more independent life.

Her social worker described the partnership with Aire House as “a commendable example of proportionate and rights-based decision-making.”
