We're so excited to share that THIS Friday, the 20th march we have Toni and Judith from Mind Map Focus at the hub to present all the information you need to know regarding ADHD and ASD assessments in our local area. They will share their wealth of knowledge and hopefully be able to answer any questions you may have. We understand what a hard process this is for any parents/carers.

🌈 Happy Internation Women's Day 🌈

Today, we want to celebrate the incredible women we see and work with everyday. The women who come to the hub, the mothers, the daughters, the girls, the sisters, aunties and so many more!

Women are powerful and when lifted up and celebrated can do wonderful things! Even when things seem set against them.

We're so lucky that the hub to filled with powerful, creative, inspiring and magical women! Emily, Charlotte, Christina, Janie and Sara! How lucky are we!

💡 Parent Tip #4 💡

Regulate First, Talk Later.

When a child is overwhelmed, reasoning won’t reach them, but feeling connection will. Try taking deep breaths together, squeezing a pillow, or offering a tight hug (if welcomed). Even just giving some space if they’re being safe or sitting alongside them and saying nothing! This can just show that you’re there if they need you.

When we calm the body first, then the mind can listen!
Children struggle to process lessons while dysregulated , therefore safety and regulation always come before problem-solving.

💡 Parent tip Thursday: Tip #3 💡

Giving children a sense of control doesn’t mean giving up structure. Sometimes small, guided choices can make big transitions feel easier and smoother for everyone. Clear, limited choices build confidence, cooperation, and emotional safety ✨

⭐ Finding the right play therapist for your child ⭐

This is such an important topic! Especially because the title of Play Therapist, isn't a protected title! That means that I could have spent 3 years training ( I did!), or have completed a 2 hour online course, and still call myself a play therapist. Doesn't seem fair really, but that's where we're at at the moment.

Being a clinically trained therapist is key to understanding all elements of working with children struggling with a huge range of issues. I believe that even when you've finished training there's still so much you don't know!! Working with such complex issues when you haven't been appropriately trained could cause further struggles down the line.

When finding the right therapist, it's so important to check they're registered, that they receive frequent supervision, they have insurance, and have continued CPD training. You can ask your therapist these questions to make sure, as you want to make the right choice for your child.

✨Parent Tip number 2 ✨

The tip this week is to try and name the feeling without rushing to fix it. We can often struggle with this as our minds are telling us to try and rescue or fix the problem.

When children feel understood, their nervous system settles. Feeling seen is the first step toward regulation. 🌈

🌈 The Rainbow Hub is hiring! 🌈

We're so excited to share that due to demand, we are in need of a clinically trained play therapist/child therapist to be on our books for private 1-1 work starting as soon as possible. This work would predominantly be at our hub in Morecambe, Lancashire.

We are looking for someone who is genuinely passionate about supporting the whole family, who likes to work closely with others and someone who brings life and laughter into the work space. Being a therapist and holding space can be a very hard job and we are invested in looking after each other as well as our families.

This would be a part-time role with a view to expand the number of clients as time goes on.

If you'd like more information about this exciting opportunity to join our hub family, then please get in touch via our email address - therainbowhublancaster@gmail.com

We can't wait to hear from you!

Magic Sprinkles,
Emily and Charlotte 🧡
