It seems a long time since we had our last coffee morning, but it was only 3 months ago - time flies so fast!

You will all be pleased to know that we have a date for our next one, which is just over 5 weeks away ..... Wednesday 3rd September.

We have been busy collecting tombola prizes, and James has been practicing his baking in our new oven at home - I must admit, his Victoria sponge was the best he has ever made, and tasted amazing!!

Anyway, we look forward to seeing you all, and we will post photos of our raffle prizes, and reminders in the coming couple of weeks.
As always, all funds raised will go to support the work of Cotswold Friends..

Wishing everyone a peaceful weekend.

Well, it's been quite a week, with lots of little things reminding us how precious time is, but also how we think of and treat others. We never know what is going on in someone else's life, for example, someone may cause you to brake suddenly by cutting in front of you. Our immediate reaction would probably be to honk our horn (or worse - of which we have been guilty of at times!), but for all we know, they may be rushing to the aid of an elderly parent who has fallen. You never know.

We are all so busy rushing around in our daily lives, we sometimes forget about what others may be going through, and how much a little gesture of kindness, or even a smile could make a difference to their day.

I found this poem, which sums it up:
~~~
It doesn't matter where you go,
Or who you meet along the way,
Carry kindness in your heart,
And practice it each day.
A simple smile can change the course
Of someone else's week,
The smallest gesture represents,
The gift of joy we seek.
There are a million obstacles
On any given day,
But rise above the hate and fear
And live life the kindness way.
~~~

Hope you all have a peaceful and enjoyable weekend.

Simon's funeral service is to be held on Tuesday 12th August at 2:00pm, in the North Chapel at Oakley Wood Crematorium.

It's The Little Things ......

We recently had the honour of supporting a family through the difficult time of losing their father and making his funeral arrangements.

As we talked about him and his life, they told us that he was always a cheerful man, who loved bright colours. They then requested that we ask mourners to wear a splash of colour, in tribute to him.

Well, we couldn't then wear our usual soft green ties, could we?
So, I went shopping, and here are our chaps wearing the more colourful ties - definitely splashed with colour!
(looks like our H**e bush wanted to get in on the photo too😄)

All the "splashes of colour" worn by everyone at the service did make people smile, and helped make a very difficult day a little brighter.

Wishing everyone a peaceful weekend.

What do people do with their loved one’s ashes?

There are a wide range of options for cremated remains, including interment in a cemetery/churchyard, scattering, keeping in an urn, and even incorporating into jewellery or art.

You may choose to have an urn in a very visible place in your home. Knowing that the cremated remains of a loved one are always nearby can be a great comfort. You may choose, instead, to bury the urn, which acts as a place for families to connect with the deceased and provides an easily accessible focal point for remembrance of their loved one.

Scattering ashes is becoming more popular. Friends and family can gather at a location that held special meaning for the deceased and scatter the ashes there (seeking appropriate permission, if required). Additionally, there are now several services that offer to scatter cremated remains in special locations or in a very specific manner, such as scattered from an airplane or incorporated into fireworks. Scattering cremated remains can be a unique and beautiful way to honour the life of a loved one.

A creative way to honour your loved one’s memory is by making their cremated remains part of a special keepsake. A portion of the cremated remains can be incorporated into jewellery, or other keepsake, which allows the family to carry a small part of their loved one with them at all times.

We have more details on our website, and several keepsake items on display in our office, so please call in if you would like to see them or discuss options in more detail.
