⚫️⚪️ A Heartfelt Surprise from Rita to Eddie! ⚪️⚫️

Following Eddie’s beautiful floral gesture for their 71st wedding anniversary, the celebrations continued in true Esmere style — with tea, cake, and a wonderful surprise from Rita! 🎂💐

During the afternoon tea, lovingly prepared by our chef, Rita presented Eddie with a very special handmade gift — a black and white knitted snowman in honour of his beloved Newcastle United. 🧶❄️⚽ The room was filled with smiles, laughter, and a few happy tears as Rita revealed her thoughtful creation.

After 71 years together, their love story continues to warm all our hearts. 💛

💐💖 Celebrating 71 Years of Love 💖💐

Recently, we celebrated a truly special milestone at Esmere Gardens — the 71st wedding anniversary of our beloved residents, Eddie and Rita. 💍✨

With a little help from our wonderful team, Eddie surprised his lovely wife with a beautiful bouquet of chrysanthemums, stocks, and roses, along with personalised cards to mark the occasion. The touching moment was captured on film as residents and staff joined in to congratulate the happy couple on their incredible journey together. 🌸💛

A love story spanning seven decades — what a beautiful reminder that true love only grows stronger with time. 🥰

We were treated to something truly heartwarming when the wonderful John and his daughter performed a lovely rendition of “When You’re Smiling.” Smiles filled the room, voices joined in, and the happiness was contagious. Moments like these remind us how music brings us all together. 🌟

🍂✨ September Round-Up at Esmere Gardens ✨🍂

What a wonderful month it’s been here at Esmere Gardens!

September was filled with music, laughter, adventures, and plenty of special moments shared between residents, families, and friends of our home. From scenic outings to meaningful celebrations, every week brought something to smile about.

We enjoyed scenic trips to Broadway Tower (with Eddie’s cheese scone critique keeping us all entertained!) and a heart-warming visit to Redwings Horse Sanctuary. Back at home, our residents were treated to beautiful live performances from Sadie and our good friend Barry Juckes, as well as a fascinating talk from Alex at FarmED. We also had the excitement of our 2026 calendar photo shoot, the joy of Gill’s birthday celebrations, and the kindness of volunteers from Moreton Fire College who worked wonders in our gardens. To top it off, one resident pulled off a touching surprise for his wife on their 37th wedding anniversary—a reminder of the love stories we’re privileged to witness every day. 💛

September has been a month of togetherness, community, and joy, reminding us once again that life truly is for living. 🌿🌞 We can’t wait to see what October brings!

🌿🌸 Gardening Club Round-Up: A Blooming First Season! 🌼🪴

Last week marked our final Gardening Club of the year and what a fantastic first season it has been. With help from our wonderful local Men in Sheds, we installed a wheelchair-accessible herb planter now bursting with deliciously scented herbs for our kitchen and for relatives to snip and enjoy. Our newly planted flamingo trees have settled in beautifully, the sunflowers have bounced back after the dry summer, and one determined sweet pea has started climbing the teepee frame. We are already dreaming of a blooming sweet pea teepee next summer.

We have also welcomed a charming wishing-well planter from Men in Sheds and plan to grow our own strawberries there next year. Little by little, our inner courtyard is becoming a sensory-rich haven for residents to relax in. Our residents have plenty of ideas for next season and we cannot wait to get stuck in again. 🌞🍓

🧀☕ Scone Adventures at Broadway Tower! 🏰🌿

Recently our residents enjoyed a fabulous outing to the Tower Barn Café at Broadway Tower, complete with scenic views, friendly chatter and, of course, delicious treats. 🫖🍰

We had cheese scones reserved especially for the occasion so that Eddie could continue his now-famous cheese scone critique – and these ones didn’t disappoint! They came very close to the current front runners at Cotswold Barns, and the cakes were equally divine. 🧁💛

The Tower Barn Café has definitely earned a spot on our “will return” list, and our residents loved every moment of this tasty adventure. 🥰🌞
