🎉🎂 Happy 94th Birthday to John! 🎉🎂

We celebrated a very special milestone—John’s 94th birthday! 🥳

He spent the day with his family before sharing birthday cake and smiles with fellow residents back at Esmere Gardens. 🍰💛

John was thrilled with his birthday gift: two spaghetti western DVDs, including his all-time favourite The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. After months of trying to stream it with no luck, he finally got to enjoy it on DVD—twice! 🎬🤠

Here’s to classic films, thoughtful gifts, and a wonderful year ahead for John! 🥂✨

🌿🌸 A Sweet Pea Tipi in Bloom (Soon!) 🌼⛺

We’re watching the garden with excitement as Luke, our fantastic gardener, helped plant our sweet peas to grow around a bamboo tipi frame in the residents’ garden!

These cheerful climbers were lovingly grown from seed, and we can’t wait to see them flourish in full bloom later this summer. Fingers crossed for sunshine! ☀️🌱

🥔🌱 From Patch to Plate: Our Potato Harvest Begins! 🧑‍🌾🥗

Back in March, our residents planted Charlotte, Maris Piper and Desiree potatoes. Now, after months of nurturing, the first two varieties have been harvested!

Our Gardening Club will soon swap trowels for utensils to whip up a delicious homemade potato salad with their homegrown spuds. A perfect mix of gardening, teamwork and tasty rewards! 🥔💚

🌸💜 A VIP Day at the Confetti Fields! 💐✨

Our residents were treated like royalty during our visit to the breathtaking Confetti Fields! With priority access, comfortable seating, and stunning views of vibrant delphiniums and cornflowers in every shade, it was an unforgettable day of colour and calm.

We returned home with a bouquet for a confetti-making craft session—and we even learnt the secret to keeping the colours bright from the helpful team! 💖

🎲🧠 Cover the Number – With a Twist! 👁️

This week, our residents enjoyed a new twist on an old favourite—Cover the Number. Using enlarged 3D numbers, we made the game more inclusive for those with visual challenges, so everyone could join the fun!

From giant dice throws to proud wins, this accessible version made for a brilliant afternoon of laughter and concentration.

Our June Tabletop Bowling match brought out the best in our residents—focus, fun, and just the right amount of friendly rivalry!

The scores are tighter than ever, and the competition is heating up as we move closer to crowning our end-of-year champion.

And we’re proud to report—the ladies are giving the gents a serious run for their money! 🎯👏

🎶☀️ Jazz à la Terrasse! 🎷🪗

Last week, two talented members of the jazz trio D’Accord brought a Parisian flair to Esmere Gardens with a beautifully improvised set on the terrace.

While their double bassist couldn’t join, the accordion and guitar duo transported us to the streets of Paris with their laid-back jazz. A perfect soundtrack for a sunny afternoon in our bistro garden! 🇫🇷🎼

🌟 June at Esmere Gardens has been filled with sunshine, celebration, and the joy of togetherness! From the gentle sounds of handmade windchimes to the soaring spectacle of birds of prey at Batsford Arboretum, our residents embraced every opportunity to create, explore, and connect.

Our Tabletop Bowling Championship continued with competitive spirit and camaraderie, while our Midweek Entertainment was turned up a notch with a fabulous performance by D’Artagnan. Whether crafting for the summer fête or stretching in yoga class, the energy and teamwork have been truly inspiring.

We were especially touched by a surprise visit from one of the Girl Guides, rekindling intergenerational bonds forged earlier in the year.

And of course, we proudly honoured the incredible dedication of our Taylor & Taylor Care team—celebrating the heart and soul of what makes our home so special. Arthur also set the fashion bar high as he prepared for our seaside outing in style, looking summer-ready in his new sun hat.

To top it all off, we made some unforgettable memories at Cotswold Country Park & Beach, where ice cream picnics, sea birds, and heartfelt conversations took centre stage.

And who could forget Jean’s fabulous 21-again birthday celebration, complete with cake, Glen Miller tunes, and the warm company of friends and family? June has been a shining example of the Esmere Gardens way—living life to the fullest, together. 💛

🎉🌸 Jean Turns 21… Again! 🎂🎶

We had the absolute pleasure of celebrating our lovely resident Jean’s birthday—21 again, of course! 💕 When she heard we were baking a cake, she asked to share it with fellow residents and visiting family, so we hosted a joyful tea party in the pub lounge. 🍰☕

Arthur, ever the gentleman, presented Jean with a gift and card from everyone at Esmere Gardens—a tactile succulent plant and chocolates, which she adored.

In true Jean fashion, she named her plant Glen, after her favourite musician, Glenn Miller, whose music set the perfect tone for the party.

Happy Birthday, Jean! 🎈🌿

🌊🍦 Seaside Smiles & Summer Memories! 🐚🚌

Our residents recently enjoyed a wonderful day out as the Hedgehog Bus took us on a seaside adventure to the beautiful Cotswold Country Park & Beach! 🏖️☀️

Chairs were set up on the grassy knoll overlooking the water, where we tucked into a relaxing ice cream picnic with stunning views. A graceful cormorant-like bird kept us company, perched in perfect stillness, while ducks and black gulls added to the scene. Staff even joined in with a paddle—shoes off, trousers rolled up! 👣🦆

There was laughter, reminiscing, and plenty of seaside stories shared—making the journey home just as lively as the day itself. 💛
