🌀 Cupping Marks vs Bruises – What’s the Difference? ✨

If you’ve ever seen round marks after a myofascial cupping session, you might wonder… “Are those bruises?” 🤔

Good news – they’re not! 🙌

💜 Cupping Marks
→ Caused by gentle suction
→ Brings stagnant blood/toxins + energy to the surface, to be cleared away
→ Usually painless
→ Fade within a few days
→ A natural response to the healing process 🌿

💥 Bruises
→ Caused by injury or trauma
→ Often painful or tender
→ Irregular in shape + color
→ Heal more slowly

Cupping is safe, ancient, and deeply therapeutic. The marks are simply a sign that your body is clearing out what it no longer needs. 🌀💫

Got questions about cupping? I’m always happy to chat! 🗣️✨

🌿Massage: More Than Muscles 🌿

Yes — massage helps with tight shoulders, sore backs, and post-workout recovery 💪
But it also supports your whole system in ways we often overlook:

🧠 Calms the nervous system
🌬️ Encourages better breathing
😴 Supports deeper sleep
🧘‍♀️Helps the body switch into rest-and-repair mode

As a sports massage therapist, I often find that tension isn’t just physical — it can be linked to stress, emotions, or how we’re moving (or not moving) through life.

Massage offers a chance to pause, reset and reconnect with your body and mind — so you feel better and function better.

Running injuries occur when the *whole* body is not strong enough to handle the stress of running. Runners should take a holistic and multifactorial approach to reducing injury risks when training and it is important for runners to build up their strength and take care of their bodies (and mind) to prevent potential injuries.

Here are some common risk factors for running injuries, some obvious, some not so much

* Large increase in volume or intensity of running (or new to running)
* Major change in running environment/terrain/surface and footwear for most of training
* Rapid weight loss
* Poor sleep quality and quantity (Less than 7 hours)
* Stressful life events, low mood, anxiety
* Using single or an old pair of running shoes
* Not doing strength and conditioning training
* Mild or excessive tightness or soreness
* Irregular menstrual cycles
* Changes in running technique
* Previous injuries with loss of strength or capacity

It is unlikely that any of these variables alone will result in an injury right away, however runners who show these characteristics more often are at a higher risk of developing an injury in the short term or re-injuring themselves.

If you need any clarification or would like to chat through anything, give me a shout 💚
