🌬️ Dizzy? Out of breath? Just not feeling quite right?

POTS is a condition that affects your autonomic nervous system, where your heart rate increases abnormally when you go from lying down to standing up. This can cause:

Parents, did you know your reaction to your child’s bump or fall can shape how they feel and rate pain later on? A study in PAIN found that when parents catastrophise—showing alarm or distress—kids go on to report higher pain intensity and greater fear in subsequent painful tasks .

What the researchers did

56 schoolchildren (9–15 years) underwent a mild heat-pain task under parental observation.

Parents were given either neutral or “threatening” information beforehand.

Those who scored high on pain catastrophising showed more distress (measured by facial EMG and startle reflex) and used more “pain-attending” talk.

Their children then rated their pain as more intense and displayed higher fear.

Why it matters for physiotherapy

In paediatric physio, we often guide children through exercises that can feel uncomfortable. By modelling calm, encouraging behaviour instead of panic, you help your child:

1. Build resilience to discomfort.

2. Focus on functional goals, not fear.

3. Improve long-term outcomes, as a positive mindset supports better movement and recovery.

Tips for parents during physio sessions:

Stay composed. A calm tone → calmer child.

Validate without catastrophising. “That was a tough one!” vs. “Oh no, you’re going to be injured forever!”

Encourage agency. “You’re doing brilliantly—let’s keep going!”

📣 IMPORTANT NOTICE – LEGISLATION CHANGE 📣

Due to new legislation coming into effect on 1st June, ALL anti-ageing injections and vitamin injections that require a prescription will now carry an additional charge of £40 per item.

This fee is to cover the mandatory involvement of a nurse prescriber to authorise your prescription, in line with the updated legal requirements.

This applies to products prescribed for treatments such as:
💉 Anti-wrinkle injections
💉 B12, Biotin, Vitamin C, and other vitamin injections

If you currently have a prescription or are due a top-up, please message us TODAY or TOMORROW to order and pay in advance. This will secure your treatment at the current price and avoid the new £40 prescription fee.

⏳ Deadline to avoid the new charge: Friday 31st May
