3 common mistakes that we see clients making here in the clinic!

1️⃣ - when us therapists give you some exercises and advice, we do that for a reason! In order for you to see progress you need to buy into the plan we make to get to back on track!

2️⃣ - a big part of why people get reoccurring injuries is that as soon as they feel better they stop the exercises and treatments that helped relieve them of their pain. The longer you carry those exercises on past your full recovery, the less likely it is for that issue to return!

3️⃣ - Sometimes rehab can be a slow and methodical process, and like me no one likes to be sat on the sidelines or away from doing things sport they love! However it’s vital that progressions are put in place at the right time and with the right dosage!

Going back too soon can increase your risk of re-injury and can set you back even further in the process fo recovery.

I hear a lot of people say that Strength training and bodybuilding makes you “muscle bound”, “stiff” and “inflexible”

But if your training is doing this to you then you’re probably not training quite right!

When done correctly, weight training is actually great for your flexibility and increasing your range of motion (ROM). This is because you’re applying weight to the muscles when their most lengthened! 🏋🏻‍♂️

If you find that you’re is ROM lessening, it’s most likely because you’re not using your full during your lifts. This happens for a few reasons:

❌shying away from moving in full range of motion as we usually get weaker at the bottom of movements, especially pressing ones.

❌ lifting too heavy! When we’re going for bigger lifts we naturally shorten our range of motion in order to be able to lift the weight

Professional Weight lifters are a great example of how weight training can affect your mobility and flexibility. They weight train yet have the ability to catch a 200kg weight over their head with their arse almost touching the floor🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️
