Northumberland Woodland Burial & Crematorium located in the heart of Northumberland N.W.B.

Northumbrian Woodland Burials is located at Bockenfield Wood, near the village of Felton, in rural Northumberland. Part of a former World War 2 RAF base, planning consent was given for change of use of the land into a woodland burial ground and 16,000 trees were subsequently planted to lay the footprint of the site. Made up of a mix of indigenous Northumbrian broad leaf trees these are now startin

g to mature nicely after early losses from hares, rabbit and rodents. Despite its rural location the site has excellent road links directly off the A1 and the area is fairly level making access easy for all. is a small, independent, family run concern and is not affiliated or connected to any councils, religions or other large corporate organisations.

Meet Eric, Keith & Floss. Our newest members of our Woodland Herd. So funny watching the rest of the goats be nosy and try to find out who is making all the new noise!

We are keeping them inside the barn together while they adjust to their new home and will be introducing them to the rest of the herd over the next few days.

Happy 60th Birthday to our Linda. Many of you already knew Linda before she joined us and it’s been heartwarming over the years to see just how much comfort, reassurance and guidance she brings to those who walk through our doors.

We would like to take an opportunity to thank you Linda for all that you do, and we hope that you know just how special you are. You are valued and appreciated by so many and we just wanted to take a moment to share our appreciation and gratitude for you on your special day ✨

What a wonderful morning we have had with everyone who attended our Easter Morning, we where blown away by how many people came to join in bulb planting, feeding our goats and not forgetting our Children’s Easter Egg hunt. This is the only photo I managed to take!

Thank you to everyone who came… and a special thank you to the Easter Bunny who made a special appearance for the children 🐰

One week until our Easter Event. We have a coffee morning in the chapel, bulb planting, meet the goats and of course our children’s Easter egg hunt 🐰

Come along on your own, or with your family, grab a coffee from the chapel, get involved with some bulb planting or come along to the goat paddock to meet our Woodland Herd.

The children’s Easter Egg hunt will be held in the woodlands next to the goat paddock and our grounds are open if anyone would like to enjoy a short walk through the woodlands after.

This event is open to all, and is designed to bring people together and encourage everyone to enjoy the peace of our site and our wonderful Northumberland countryside.

Come along to meet our Woodland Herd on Good Friday at 10am. All welcome. We will be hosting a meet and greet, interact with our friendly residents, learn how we care for them and feed them their morning snacks.

This will be followed by a children’s Easter egg hunt at 11am in the woodlands opposite.

Park in the crematorium car park and make your way to the goats by foot. We hope to see you there!

🌸🌿 Join us this Good Friday for a heartwarming bulb planting event 🌿🌸

We’re coming together to plant beautiful bulbs that will bloom in the spring, bringing vibrant color and life to this peaceful, natural space. It’s a wonderful way to honor loved ones, connect with nature, and give back to the earth.

No experience needed—just bring your gloves, enthusiasm, and a desire to help make this beautiful woodland even more special. 🌷🌳

On Friday 18th April we are opening our gates and doors for a special Easter event including;

• coffee morning ☕️
• bulb planting 🌱
• goat meet & greet 🐐
• children’s egg hunt 🐣

This is open to all, whether you live in the area, are a regular visitor of our site, or if you have never visited and are curious to find out more about us.

We are hoping the spring weather and fresh air will be a welcome way to spend the morning. No booking required.

Our hedghog hotel is ready and waiting for its new residents. We hope to take in rescue hedge hogs which can be re homed here safe in our woodlands. We will be building more habitat hotels in the coming weeks so make sure to keep your eyes pealed if you are visiting 👀

Some beautiful floral tributes have been donated to our herd of goats this week. We are always so grateful for the thoughtful gesture and I know our four legged residents really appreciate it.

It’s a beautiful mild morning here for a walk, to gather your thoughts, enjoy the sunshine on your face and to remember those missing from our lives. Our site is open and here for you 🌞

We wanted to say a heartfelt thanks to all those involved in last nights memorial service. Our chapel was filled with love once again, in remembrance to those no longer with us.

Swarland Voices Choir where stunning, and provided us with moments of peace and reflection. Words of comfort from Dale Cox Funeral Celebrant Reverend Rich Townend and The Northumberland Celebrant Sarah Price. Thank you all so much for putting together such a wonderful service.

The Swarland Primary School Choir were especially sweet, offering carols beforehand and braving the cold to stand outside in front of our dedication tree.

Finally thank you to our wonderful team, without you none of this would be possible.
