Anxiety can be all consuming. We feel it deeply in our body and it traps our thoughts in relentless loops.
When the brain senses a potential threat, it sends signals to the body which prepares to face danger. In order to do so, it shuts down all the functions that are not necessary for survival. This is why when we panic, we cannot think.
When dealing with anxiety, panic or stress, the first step is to calm the body.
Take a few slow breaths focusing on feeling the air travel in and out of your body for a few minutes. Slowing our breathing down, allows us to think more clearly in order to deal with the situation.
