The Wild West is starting to close down.
The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has released its long-awaited response to the 2023 consultation on aesthetic regulations - marking a major shift in how non-surgical cosmetic procedures will be delivered in England.
⚠️ While this is a significant step forward, for now many medical procedures will continue to be performed by non-medics without medical training or clinical accountability.
🔒 What’s coming:
- A new licensing scheme for practitioners and premises
- Only healthcare professionals to perform high risk treatments like BBLs
- Mandatory CQC premises for invasive procedures
- Licensing of BotoxÂŽ and dermal fillers by local authorities
- Under-18s protected (no treatment without clinical need)
- Strict requirements for training, safety, and insurance
📆 A further consultation is due early 2026 to finalise the details.

When it comes to dermal filler, what’s inside matters.

Unregulated products are a growing concern in aesthetics, with some being sold cheaply online or used by unqualified individuals. These products haven’t been through the strict safety checks required for licensed, medical-grade fillers, which means you can’t be sure what’s really going into your face.

Some have been found to contain unsafe gels, impurities, incorrect particle sizes, harmful additives, or even contaminated product.

At SG Aesthetics, we only ever use premium, CE-marked fillers from trusted medical suppliers. Every product we choose is tested, traceable, and designed for safe, natural results.

Your face is too important to take risks. If your practitioner can’t tell you exactly what’s in your filler and show you the packaging, walk away.

The delicate area under the eyes can sometimes develop hollows or shadows over time, often referred to as a tear trough deformity. This can make the face look tired, even when you feel refreshed.

With precise tear trough treatment, we can restore volume and smoothness to this area, reducing the appearance of dark circles and creating a brighter, more rested look.

If you’ve noticed changes under your eyes and want to explore your options, we’d be happy to guide you through what’s possible.

That’s a really important thing to notice, and you’re right to feel unsure. Any product used in medical aesthetics in the UK should be licensed by the MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency) and clearly labelled in English. If the packaging is in another language, it may mean the product has been imported from outside the UK or EU and potentially illegally. There’s no way to guarantee its safety, sterility, or even that it contains the correct ingredients.

We only ever use licensed, approved products from official UK pharmacies such as MedFX and Wigmore Medical. I’m always happy to show you exactly what’s being used before your treatment.

💉 Lip Filler: Let’s Talk Myths vs Facts

We hear a lot of misconceptions about lip filler, so let’s clear a few things up.

Lip enhancement doesn’t have to mean big, overdone lips. When done properly, filler is placed with care to enhance, hydrate and support your natural lip shape. We always aim for results that are subtle, balanced, and uniquely suited to you.

Whether it’s your first time or you're simply curious, understanding the facts can make all the difference when deciding what’s right for you.

✨ Remember: Less is often more. Comfort is always a priority. And good filler should never change who you are, just enhance what’s already there.

If you're considering lip filler and want honest, expert advice, we’re here to guide you every step of the way.

I completely understand why that might have caught your attention and you’re absolutely right to question it. Anti-wrinkle injections use a prescription-only medication that should only be prescribed following a full consultation by a qualified medical professional. If a treatment is being offered for under £100, it usually means something is being compromised. Whether that’s the quality of the product, the clinical environment, or the qualifications of the injector. Safe, regulated treatment comes with a certain cost, and while it doesn’t have to be unaffordable, it should never seem ‘too good to be true.’ Your safety is always worth investing in.

If you have any questions about how to check if your practitioner is qualified, or what to look for when choosing an aesthetics provider, I’m always happy to help.

At SG Aesthetics, we don’t believe in using large volumes of filler in one go. Because dermal fillers are hydrophilic (meaning they attract water), they continue to settle over several weeks. That’s why we favour a staged treatment plan, giving the filler time to integrate naturally, while allowing us to adjust and refine the results with precision.

By working in stages, we’re able to achieve beautifully balanced and subtle improvements that still look like you, just a little more refreshed.

✨ Individualised treatment plans
✨ Natural-looking results
✨ No overfilling, ever

Tear trough filler is one of the most advanced and intricate treatments we offer.

The area under the eyes has extremely thin skin and complex anatomy, which means precise placement and expert technique are absolutely essential. Even small irregularities can be more visible here than anywhere else on the face.

As we age, changes in skin elasticity and volume can affect how filler sits, sometimes causing puffiness or visibility of older filler. That’s why careful patient selection, product choice, and ongoing review are so important in this area.

We always take a conservative, safety-first approach to tear trough treatments – aiming for subtle, natural-looking results.

This patient has recently lost a significant amount of weight. An incredible achievement, However, with weight loss can come volume loss in the lower face, which often leads to deeper folds and sagging around the mouth and jawline. By carefully treating the lower face with dermal filler, we’ve restored balance, softened deep lines, and reintroduced gentle structure to support the skin.

If you've noticed changes in your face following weight loss or ageing, this kind of treatment might be just what you're looking for 💉✨

This patient came to us concerned about lipstick bleeding and loss of shape around the lips. Using precise vertical lip line and vermilion border restoration, we were able to recreate a crisp, clean edge, improving lip contour and preventing lipstick migration.
