Reflexology the perfect antidote to stress.
Sitting on top of each of your kidneys is a small adrenal gland. These play an important role in the management of your wellness, specifically managing your stress response.
Cortisol is a naturally occurring steroid hormone produced by your adrenals and released into your bloodstream at the first sign of danger. Often called "the stress hormone," because of its role in the bodyโs stress response, it is also involved in the regulation of the following functions and more:
* Blood pressure regulation
* Glucose metabolism
* Immune function
* Inflammatory response
* Insulin release
Modern living can be incredibly stressful and your adrenal glands only have a fixed daily supply. If you constantly deplete this supply you risk venturing into the realms of chronic fatigue. Learning to manage your stress levels is vital.
During a reflexology treatment we stimulate the systemโs within the body to encourage them to function to the best of their ability, we encourage the body to heal itself. One of the reflexes we address is your adrenal glands.
Reflexology reminds your body to switch from that constant โfight or flightโ high cortisol state and into โrest, digest & healโ, down regulating your stress response to a more manageable level.
This takes your foot off โthe gas pedalโ, allowing your adrenals to slow down production, all while you get to enjoy some deep relaxation, and your body gets to restand reset.
This is just one of the ways Reflexology is able to support better well-being.
