This National Eye Health Week, we encourage you to book an eye test for your child if they are aged 3-4 years. It's free on the NHS, and the earlier problems are identified, the better the outcome for your child.

Whether you’re buying light-up decorations for Halloween, flashing wands for Bonfire Night or cheap stocking fillers for Christmas, the chances are you’ll be tempted to buy something powered by a button battery in the coming months.

But did you know that if a small child swallows one and it gets stuck in their food pipe it can burn through the tissue and cause life-altering injuries or death?

You might not even know it’s happened until it’s too late.

That’s why our message is simple:

Check all products that come into your home to make sure the button battery compartment is secure with a screw or similar fastener.

If the back is not secured or the button battery is easily accessible, the product needs to be kept out of reach of young children.

Paracetamol in pregnancy | The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has reiterated the guidance that paracetamol is safe to take, as per the patient information leaflet, during pregnancy. The MHRA have further stated there is no evidence taking paracetamol during pregnancy causes autism in children.
