Will you… hold my hand for a little while?
I don’t need saving.
I don’t need fixing.
I don’t need you to carry my burdens.
But will you simply hold my hand?

I don’t ask for words,
Nor thoughts,
Nor shoulders to lean on.
Just sit with me for a while.

As my tears fall,
As my heart aches,
As my mind plays its cruel games,
Will your presence remind me that I am not alone, even as I wander through the unknown?

My darkness is mine to face,
My pain is mine to bear,
My wounds are mine to heal.
But will you sit beside me, as I gather the courage to meet it all?

For I shine because of my shadows,
I am whole because of my fractures,
And I am strong because of my tenderness.
But will you gently take my hand when I walk through the dark once more?

I don’t ask you to take my pain away,
I don’t expect you to bring the light,
And I know only I can mend what is broken.
But if you could sit with me for a little while, hold my hand until I find my way—
I would love that more than words can say.

So… will you hold my hand until I find my way back again?

Today was a Difficult Day, said Pooh.
There was a pause.
Do you want to talk about it? asked Piglet.
Pooh thought for a moment. No, I don't think I do.
That's okay, said Piglet, settling down beside him. Pooh glanced at his friend.
What are you doing?
Nothing much, Piglet replied.
Just sitting with you.
I know what Difficult Days feel like.
Sometimes, talking doesn’t help, but knowing someone’s there does.
Pooh let out a small sigh and leaned just a little closer.
As the two friends sat in quiet companionship, Pooh realised—some burdens feel lighter when you don’t carry them alone.

If Nurses Were Elements

If nurses were elements,
Some would be Earth
Steady and unshakable,
Bearing burdens heavy as mountains,
Rooting hope in barren halls,
Making life grow where despair once lived.
They hold us when we crumble,
Silent pillars no one always sees,
But without them, nothing stands.

Some would be Water
Flowing with endless empathy,
Washing away pain with gentle hands,
Adapting to every shape and need,
Calming storms with quiet strength,
A healing tide that never tires,
Giving life where it’s needed most.

Some would be Fire
Fierce, relentless, blazing bright,
Burning through injustice and fear,
Igniting courage in the faint-hearted,
Lighting dark rooms with fierce love,
A spark that refuses to die,
Fueling change with every breath.

Some would be Air
Invisible but vital,
Lifting spirits when all feels heavy,
Carrying whispered prayers and soft words,
Filling lungs with fresh hope,
Breathing life into weary souls,
The unseen breath of comfort and care.

Together, they are the circle of healing
Balanced, essential, unstoppable.
They are the life force of humanity’s heartbeat,
The quiet storm and the steady calm,
The fierce defender and the tender embrace.

If nurses were elements,
They’d be all of these
And more.
Because nursing is not just a job,
It’s the very essence of life itself.
