Eating delicious healthier cheaper food is a decision we can all make. A sustainable diet is one which has a low impact on the environment but is still good for our health. Diet recommendations should also take into consideration other factors such as health, cost, and accessibility.

To improve our health and to combat the effects of our current food system on the environment, we need to change the way we produce food and how we consume it. This will help ensure there is enough food for everyone, produced in a sustainable way that protects our planet while improving our own health.

Our understanding of these factors is still developing, but the good news is that there are some changes we can make to our diet that are likely to benefit both our health and that of the planet.

A new report from the World Health Organization (WHO) reveals that annual measles deaths fell by 88% between 2000 and 2024, from 777,000 to 95,000 a year. Vaccinations have prevented an estimated 58 million deaths over this period, one of our species’ greatest ever achievements. Routine immunisation, including a second-dose surge from 17% to 76%, has reshaped our collective immunity, particularly in Africa, yet there is still so much work to be done: 20.6 million children missed their first dose last year, driving outbreaks in 59 countries.

Mindset is a talking course from Mindsong, designed for people who have been diagnosed with dementia in the last 18 months or so. The sessions are led by trained therapists who provide support for the emotional, psychological, and practical aspects of living with dementia. Attending the course also provides opportunities to meet and talk to others who are going through similar experiences. The team also offer support for family members.
