The New Moon & Witchcraft

Understanding the phases of the moon and what each of them brings has been a fundamental part of many witchcraft branches for centuries.
Timing your spells, rituals, blessings and even gardening has shown to help many witch's within their practice.

I myself have had an on/off relationship with timing my spells to the moon phases, sometimes because I just needed to do what I had to do and sometimes because I just wasn't feeling it as the right thing to do, Its not a law that you have to follow by. That said, I have as of more recent times found that when I do time my workings with the moon phases and wait for the right one the effects have been greater and quicker. Just some food for thought.

So what are the best things that the new moon can help with?

Well by itself the new moon is all about beginnings and starting something, planting the seed.
But you can also use the new moon to start a 2 week spell (which isn't uncommon), as the moon begins to grow larger (Waxing moon) you can pull on that energy of gaining and building.

Spells, rituals and blessings such as:
- Money
- Prosperity
- Health / Healing
- Psychic abilities
- Love
- Personal power

Quite often we can use candle magick during the longer spells by marking the candle for how much is to be burned for each day.

Creating tools, amulets, talismans and charms on the new moon and to then be charged for 2 weeks in the waxing moons light ready for the full moon.

Anything to do with the beginnings of growth and starting out is all under the magick of the new moon.
