Noticing changes in your 8–16 year old?
Mood shifts, pulling away, losing interest in school…

It’s not always easy to know what’s going on underneath.

A lot of the time, children don’t have the words for how they’re feeling.
So it comes out in behaviour instead.

In the sessions, I’m not trying to “fix” that behaviour.
I’m trying to understand what’s behind it.

For some young people, talking helps.
For others, play or creative work makes it easier to express what they can’t yet say.

If this sounds familiar, you don’t have to figure it out on your own.

🌿 What it’s like to work together 🌿

Choosing a counsellor isn’t always straightforward.
It can feel unfamiliar, especially if you’re not sure where to begin.

Sometimes it helps to hear how others have experienced the work.

“Mike combines strong interpersonal skills with a natural ability to listen, understand, and support others, alongside a genuine connection.”

“His calm presence helps clients feel safe, supported, and understood, building trust in a gentle and genuine way.”

For me, this is what the work is about.
Creating a space where you feel safe enough to explore what’s going on underneath, at your own pace.

If you’re thinking about counselling but unsure where to start, you’re welcome to reach out for a free 15-minute chat.

FREE SESSIONS for Cawdor Pupils

Not every child wants football, clubs, or busy after-school activities…
Some just need a bit of quiet.

Relax Kids is a calm, gentle space at the end of the school day where children can slow things down, breathe, and just be.

There’s no pressure to join in, no expectations, no “getting it right”.
They can take part, watch, or take their time to settle. All of it is okay.

Recent feedback from children aged 7–11 has been really positive. Most rated the sessions at the highest level and said they felt happy and relaxed. They especially enjoyed being outside, playing games, and spending time with others in a space that feels safe.

These sessions use simple relaxation, movement, and calming activities to help children feel more settled in themselves. When children feel safe and calm, they’re better able to regulate, connect, and cope with the day

Especially helpful for children who:
• feel overwhelmed after school
• struggle with transitions
• don’t usually choose structured clubs
• just need a bit of space to breathe

Starting Friday 24th April
Then running Wednesdays thereafter

Mike will meet children at the Community Centre at the end of the school day
Snack included
Collection before 5pm

Adult & Child Counselling, with Mike Ogden

Something doesn’t feel right…

You might be worried about your child
Or noticing something isn’t right for you

Most people I work with say they don’t know where to begin
Your story is yours, you only share what you want to share

Reaching out can feel unfamiliar, but you don’t have to figure it out on your own.

For adults, sessions offer a calm, confidential space to talk things through at your own pace, whether you’re dealing with anxiety, stress, relationship difficulties, or just feeling stuck.

For children, things don’t always come out in words. Sessions use a mix of talking and play-based approaches to help them express themselves in ways that feel more natural, supporting emotional, social and personal development.

I’m Mike, a counsellor based in Cawdor. I offer a down-to-earth, person-centred approach, giving you or your child a space to feel heard, understood and supported. No pressure, no judgement, just a place to start making sense of things.

We can begin with a simple, free 15-minute conversation, just a chance to talk about what’s going on and see if this feels like the right fit. From there, sessions offer a consistent space to reflect, build understanding, and begin to find a way forward that feels manageable.

Would it help your child to have a space to talk things through as they grow up?

Growing up can feel a lot at times. Friendships change, emotions get bigger, confidence can dip, and it’s not always easy to make sense of it all.

These small group sessions offer a calm, supportive space where young people can talk, reflect, and begin to feel more settled and confident in themselves.

Delivered in 5 week blocks, with separate groups for boys and girls.

Wednesdays, 6:30pm – 7:30pm
Cawdor Community Centre
£8 per session

If you’re unsure whether it’s the right fit, feel free to get in touch.
