*Job Overview*
We are looking for a compassionate and reliable Funeral Assistant/Driver to join our team. The successful candidate will support the funeral director and ensure smooth transportation and arrangements for each service. This role requires professionalism, sensitivity, and strong attention to detail, with a commitment to honouring the needs of families and loved ones during a difficult time.
*Key Responsibilities*
Transportation - Safely transport deceased individuals from place of death to funeral home, and to and from funeral service locations in a dignified and respectful manner.
Support for Funeral Services - Assist with setting up for funeral services and help conduct funeral services by bearing the coffin, handing out orders of service and assisting mourners.
Family Assistance - Greet and assist family members and guests during viewings, services, and ceremonies with compassion and professionalism.
Vehicle Maintenance - Ensure funeral vehicles are cleaned, fuelled, and maintained according to company standards.
On Call - Adhere to the out of hours on call rota (1 week in every 3 weeks)
General Duties - Perform other duties as needed, such as light maintenance around the facility, and assisting in other funeral home operations.
*Qualifications*
A full UK driving License
Physical Strength and Stamina – Ability to handle heavy lifting.
Professional Demeanour – Strong interpersonal skills, respectful, and empathetic with grieving families.
Flexibility – Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts.
Attention to Detail – Ability to follow precise procedures and maintain the dignity of services.
