📚💛 Bookbag Fun at St Olaf! 💛📚

Our residents had a wonderful time at this week’s Bookbag session, and we are so grateful to all the mums and dads who came along with their little ones 🌼✨

The children brought so much energy and happiness into the home — enjoying stories, singing, playtime with their little friends, and even some time exploring our garden together. It was heart‑warming to see new friendships forming and everyone having such fun 💕

A huge thank you to Mairianne from Inverness Family Centre for organising another fantastic session. These visits mean so much to our residents, bringing joy, connection and lots of smiles.

We’re excited to share another fun‑filled week of activities here at St Olaf Care Home! Our residents can look forward to a lovely mix of creativity, relaxation, music, movement and plenty of opportunities to spend time together 💛✨

From arts and crafts to gentle exercise, garden time, singalongs and cosy chats, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. We love creating moments that bring joy, connection and a real sense of community throughout the week 🌿

💪🧠✨ Active Body & Mind at St Olaf! ✨🧠💪

At St Olaf Care Home, our residents love staying active — both physically and mentally — and this week has been full of wonderful activities that support overall wellbeing 🌼

With the help of yoga instructor Jane and our DanceSing sessions via the Meallmore online portal, residents have been enjoying Pilates, chair yoga and singalong sessions. These moments bring movement, music and lots of smiles 💛🎶🧘‍♀️

But it’s not just about keeping the body active — our residents also enjoy keeping their minds sharp with Scrabble, draughts and dominoes. These games spark conversation, friendly competition and a lovely sense of connection ♟️📚✨

All of these activities play an important role in supporting health, happiness and quality of life, and it’s wonderful to see everyone taking part with such enthusiasm 🌿💕

🎶💛 Intergenerational Choir Sessions at St Olaf 💛🎶

Our residents are incredibly lucky to take part in regular choir sessions led by the talented professional performers Kenna and Morna Ross 🎤✨
These sessions are always a highlight of the week — full of music, joy and shared moments.

What makes them even more special is the involvement of the wonderful young leaders from Nairn Academy. Their visits bring a beautiful intergenerational connection, creating an atmosphere filled with confidence, creativity and plenty of smiles 🌼💛

Everyone loves singing together, showing their talents and enjoying the uplifting energy that fills the room. It’s truly heart‑warming to see all generations having such a good time together, learning from one another and building meaningful bonds 🎶

Every Wednesday morning, St Olaf is delighted to host the Baby and Toddler Group, run by the amazing Mairianne from Inverness Family Centre 💛✨

She brings so much energy, creativity and joy to each session — making them exciting for the children, welcoming for families and truly uplifting for our residents. These mornings are full of smiles, play and lovely intergenerational moments that mean so much to everyone involved 🌟

Our residents are incredibly grateful to the mums who bring their little ones along, and they’re already looking forward to hopefully meeting new families soon. If you know anyone with young children who might enjoy a friendly, fun and supportive group, please do let them know 💕

🚲🌞 Trike Adventures to Nairn Beach! 🌞🚲

With the warmer weather on its way, our residents are once again enjoying wonderful Trike adventures to the beautiful Nairn beach — and what a joy these outings are 💛✨

Residents and their family members love these sociable trips into the community, taking in the fresh air, stunning scenery and plenty of friendly chats along the way. It’s such a lovely boost for wellbeing and a highlight of the week for many 🌼

A huge thank you to the amazing Green Hive trike pilots — Kirsten, Carmen and Joshua — for making these special moments possible. Your time, energy and kindness mean so much 💙

🌟 Green Hive are currently looking for more volunteers to help make these outings even more frequent for our residents. If you know someone who might enjoy being part of something truly meaningful, please do spread the word.

🐾💛 Paws, smiles and heart-warming moments at St Olaf Care Home 💛🐾

We were absolutely delighted to welcome our wonderful therapy dog Ruby back to St Olaf – with a special hello to her lovely new furry friend, Millie! 🐶✨

Their visit brought so much joy, from gentle cuddles and tasty treats to cheerful chats and laughter all around. Seeing our residents light up during these visits is truly something special.

There’s already excitement building for their next visit, and we can’t wait to welcome them back very soon! 🐾💕

What does it actually mean to be a nurse?

Not the job description.
Not the uniform.
Not the “no two days are the same” line.

The real answer.

For International Nurses Day 2026, we sat down with nurses from across Meallmore and asked them a few simple questions about what nursing means to them.

Their answers said everything.

It’s compassion when someone needs reassurance.
It’s clinical skill when decisions matter.
It’s patience on the difficult days.
It’s leadership when a team needs guidance.
It’s knowing someone’s routine, their family, their worries, their sense of humour.

In care homes, nurses do so much more than deliver care.

They build trust.
They support families.
They lead teams.
They protect dignity.
They help make our homes feel like home.

So today, we’re proud to celebrate the incredible nurses across Meallmore who bring their knowledge, kindness and calm presence into our homes every single day.

A fitting tribute to an amazing profession - and to the people who show what nursing really means. 💙

🌞🌼 Enjoying the Warmest Day of the Year at St Olaf! 🌼🌞

What a beautiful day we had as our residents made the most of the warmest day of the year, enjoying our residents’ meeting out in the sunshine, followed by a delicious lunch outdoors 💛✨

The feedback during the meeting was truly uplifting — residents shared how happy they are with the food, the activities, and the recent improvements to the home, including the new carpet and décor. When asked what one thing they would change, every resident said they were happy with everything just as it is… such wonderful comments to hear 🌿

Lunch outside was a real treat, with everyone enjoying the sunshine, a warm gentle breeze, birdsong and plenty of lovely conversations 🥗🌞💬

A special thank you to our hairdresser Angie for joining our residents for a chat and for providing her wonderful service afterwards — always appreciated 💐💛

A perfect day filled with positivity, connection and sunshine.
