To my lovely repair customers...

Hi guys,

I can't currently take anymore guitars in until next week. I'm off on Monday, so Tuesday onwards I may have some space. I'm bursting at the seams for storage and it's slowing me down having to constantly move things around.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Jason's Fender P Bass Stage 1.

Fitting Schaller straplocks, Jason unluckily managed to split the wood of the horn as the screw was much larger than the stock strap button screw (always check and drill out if necessary).

In an attempt to stabilise the split, super glue was then run into the split, which isn't ideal, but is better than nothing...

However, it didn't set as quickly as hoped, so it started to drip. Wiping it caused the mess in the first 2 photos as it smeared and dried on the body. Yup, this was a bad day getting worse.....

That's the downside of superglue. It dries great on absorbent surfaces in a thin layer, but takes a lot longer in heavier amounts.

Anyway, some careful fine sanding and polishing has thankfully restored it mostly to its former glory. Now for the setup.

GOC 8 string fan fret headless guitar.

I'm guessing that GOC stands for God, Ow, Lady Garden, because it evoked all of those words as I wrestled with what is the most uncomfortable bridge I've ever come across.

Yes, it looks nice and modern, but the knurled skin-shredder section is only enhanced by the castle design which attempts to tear your fingernails off at the same time. Lovely.

Added to that, they placed the intonation screw below the wound section of the string, so it's pretty time consuming detuning, repositioning, retuning, and checking...repeat several times and on each of the 8 strings.

Anyway, it's finally sorted and setup with 9-80 strings. Yes, that low end is what bass players are usually for, but if you are the next KG solo man 5000 project (Google it) or you just don't like humans, then an 8 string will do the job and you can keep all the royalties for skin grafts.

Just a heads up but I will be closed Monday February 2nd and open on Weds 4th in lieu of it. Car MOT time.

Also I have around 18 guitars sitting waiting for my attention, so next week is looking pretty much solid, if I even get through them all. Please bear that in mind if you're thinking of a repair/setup.

Dear Customers,

I've mentioned this before but you really have to at least put a name and phone number in the case of your guitar. I probably get several hundred messages a week through bands, work, personal life, etc. With Facebook messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp, email, text, calls and the various other ways of contact, your message can easily get lost.

I may well have spoken to you, but again I'm speaking to multitudes of people and I won't necessarily remember your name even if I remember the guitar we spoke about.

This is especially necessary if you drop off indirectly to me via The Rhythm House or a friend. Simply adding your name and number will save time and confusion, mostly mine..if you think this might be you, please get in touch.

Thanks, moan over.

I'm changing my priorities after a little after an evaluation and with working some extra hours on Saturdays.

I people-please way too much, which can compromise my day off or my plans just because my absence is an inconvenience. You can't run a business, or your life that way. I'm sacrificing something just so as not to disappoint others, but it's just breeding frustration for myself as I don't get downtime or a change of pace/environment.

So, I'm closed on Wednesdays (unless I swap my day due to an appointment etc, but I'll post changes), and that will mean I may not answer messages and I definitely won't be at my workshop.

Saturdays I will now be working at The Rhythm House from 9.30am to 5pm, again unless I have an FM commitment/holiday (lol, what's one of those).

Thanks x
