One of the things I love most about my work is meeting inspiring people who have taken control of their health journey.
Yesterday in clinic, I met a 72-year-old woman with severe osteoarthritis in both knees. Ten years ago, she was in so much pain she couldn't walk down the street. Today, she walks daily, goes to the gym, and lives pain-free.
I asked what helped her avoid surgery, and she gave me permission to share her approach:

1. Regular chiropractic care
2. An anti-inflammatory diet guided by a registered nutritionist
3. Regular exercise with a personal trainer

She made her health her priority and invested in her body—and it worked.
It's worth noting that in the UK, the average cost of a total knee replacement is £15,000, with NHS wait times averaging 2 years. Additionally, research shows that 20% of people still report pain after surgery, and 30% experience reduced mobility post-surgery.
She was certain surgery wasn't the path for her, so she explored other options with the support of qualified healthcare professionals.
Of course, what worked for her may not work for everyone—we're all different. That's why it's so important to seek advice from qualified, regulated healthcare professionals who can guide you based on your individual needs.
I'm pro-choice when it comes to healthcare. Knowing your options and understanding what's possible is empowering and, frankly, inspiring.

This weekend I attended a Chiropractic adjusting seminar with Thomas Greenfield from Cardiff's Tuning Room and Tom Lawrence from Sheffield. It was a transformational experience! I learnt a lot which I'm still digesting and integrating and I look forward to sharing in the near future. The skills and knowledge I've gained will help elevate my practice and help more people on a deeper level. I enjoy continuing to learn and evolve in my work as a Chiropractor and Wellness Healthcare professional.

In my work as a Chiropractor I have noticed a recent trend of people over training and pushing their bodies too hard and too fast. Resulting in injuries, fatigue, burnout, stress, hormonal imbalances to name a few! A marathon is no longer enough of a challenge - it must be an ultra!
Another common pitfall is underestimating the importance of recovery and rest days over the course of a week. If you look at any athlete's training plan you will see recovery is prioritised in their weekly schedules.
Examples of recovery include: Rest days, Walking, Baths, Hot/cold therapy, Sauna, Yoga, Stretching, Foam rolling, adequate nutrition and hydration, Chiropractic, Massage.

My Last week !

One lovely patient who've I treated for years, bought me a Plum tree 🥰🌳as a thank you gift and another bought me plum jam and chutney 😋 Autumnal abundance gifts.

Thanks Phil for having me this last year! One highlight was helping a patient rehabilitate from a spinal disc injury. After a few months of Chiropractic care and 1:1 core and back strengthening with me, they were able to join Phil's small group sessions and progress their strength training. 💪🤲

Another was helping a woman with chronic foot pain finally manage to walk without pain in her feet 👣

I will miss Crofty and all the lovely patients I've had the privilege to take care of.
You can find me in the future at Narberth Chiropractic Clinic as we prepare to move west to my family home.

Why Your Balance Matters More Than You Think 🏃‍♀️

"I've got terrible balance" - sound familiar? Here's the thing: balance isn't something you're born with or without. It's a skill you can train, just like building muscle.

Why should you care?

Picture this: you're walking down the street, catch your foot on an uneven pavement, and stumble. With good balance, you catch yourself and carry on. With poor balance? You might end up with a nasty fall and potential injury.

The stats don't lie: Research published in the BMJ shows that balance training can significantly reduce falls in older adults - and it's never too late to start! But why wait until you're older?

Ready to test yourself?

Here's a simple challenge:
- Stand on one leg next to a doorframe (hold on for safety)
- Time how long you can maintain this position
- Try both sides and note any differences
- Can you manage 30 seconds? Great! Now try it with your eyes closed (still holding the doorframe!)

Already active? You're probably getting some balance training through your sports and activities, but it's worth testing yourself with this simple exercise.

The bottom line:

Balance training helps you react faster to your environment, prevents falls, and reduces injury risk. Start with just a few minutes daily - your future self will thank you!
