This May half term, our Immunisation Team will be delivering catch up childhood vaccinations at a range of locations across Swansea and Neath Port Talbot for school aged children (aged 4-16).

If your child is outside of this age range but has not received their vaccination, please contact the immunisation clinical team on 07443218610 (Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm, excluding bank holidays) or e-mail SBU.Imms@wales.nhs.uk. If you are attending the Eisteddfod over half term, come and see us at the health board stand for more information.

Childhood immunisation is a foundation of public health, offering several key benefits that protect children from potentially life-threatening illnesses such as:

• Diphtheria,
• Tetanus,
• Hepatitis B
• Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
• Meningitis
• Human papillomavirus (HPV)

These diseases can cause severe complications, long-term disability, or even death. Immunisation helps prevent these outcomes by building a child’s immunity before being exposed to the diseases. Vaccines help train their bodies to recognise and fight the disease, giving them a head start in developing strong natural defences.

If your child has not received some/or all of their childhood immunisation for any reason, or if you would like further information and advice on any of the vaccines, please come see the immunisation team at the following locations and dates (all 10:00am to 4:00pm);

• Wednesday 28th May – Immbulance at Banwen RFC, Main Road, Dyffryn Cellwen, Neath, SA10 9LG. 10:00am – 4:00pm.
• Wednesday 28th May – Aberafan Vaccination Centre in Aberafan Shopping Centre, Unit 30D East Mall, Port Talbot, SA13 1PB. 10:00am – 4:00pm.
• Thursday 29th May – Immbulance at The National Waterfront Museum, Oystermouth Road, Maritime Quarter, Swansea, SA1 3RD. 10:00am – 4:00pm.
