Looking to get into the gym this month?

IronWorX Gym and wellbeing hub was born out of necessity for local residents to be able to use a local fitness facility without having to travel for the privilege of keeping healthy. This is Hirwaun's first ever fully operational Gym and wellbeing facility and we hope to create a friendly, welcoming environment with a warm, family atmosphere.

They are extremely community focused and are so pleased to be able to provide a "one stop shop" for all things health and wellbeing.

If you have a body, you can benefit from sports massage.

It’s not just about "fixing" injuries; it’s about recalibrating your system from the daily grind.

Who am I seeing on my table lately?

The Desktop Warriors: Relieving that "tech neck" and postural tension from 9-5 desk life.

The Super-Parents: For the weary backs of mums and dads juggling toddlers, groceries, and endless life-admin.

The Goal-Getters: Supporting heavy training blocks or prepping you for your first 10k or marathon.

The Frequent Flyers: Flushing out the stiffness and "heavy legs" that follow long travel days.

The Exhausted: Helping lower cortisol levels to fight sleeplessness and that "wired but tired" feeling.

Whether it’s morning stiffness or a PB goal, your body deserves to move without restriction.

🌿 Understanding Pain: Your Body’s Alarm System 🌿
Pain isn’t always a sign of damage—it’s a message. To understand what your body is saying, it helps to know which "alarm" is going off! 🧠👇

🚨 The 3 Types of Pain Signals:
1️⃣ Nociceptive (The Tissue Alarm): The most common type. It’s your body sensing heat, pressure, or inflammation (like a stubbed toe or a sore muscle).
2️⃣ Neuropathic (The Nerve Alarm): This happens when nerves are irritated. It often feels like tingling, "zaps," or pins and needles.
3️⃣ Nociplastic (The Volume Alarm): When the brain stays on high alert even after an injury has healed. The "volume" is just turned up too high!

⏳ How Long Does It Last?
- Acute Pain: Short-term and protective. It's your body’s "Stop! Look! Listen!" signal during healing.
- Chronic Pain: Pain that sticks around. This is usually less about tissue damage and more about a highly sensitive nervous system that needs help feeling safe again.

✨ The Good News:
Pain is influenced by your stress, sleep, and mood—meaning we have many ways to dial the sensitivity back down! ✅ Gentle movement ✅ Deep breathing ✅ Better rest

Remember: Pain is a message, not a punishment. Most day-to-day aches are a request for awareness, not a reason for worry. 🤍
However, if your pain is worrisome, worsening, or long-lasting, please consult your Chiropractor, GP, or healthcare professional for a full assessment and personalised guidance. 🩺✨

🧊 Ice vs. 🔥Heat: Which is better for Winter Aches?
If you’re waking up feeling "locked" or achy this January, you aren't alone. But should you reach for the ice pack or the heat pad?

Here is the simple breakdown:

🔥 Reach for HEAT for:
• Tight or stiff muscles
• Achy joints and morning stiffness
• Ongoing or chronic pain

Why: Heat acts like WD-40. It opens up blood vessels to improve circulation, relaxes tight muscles to helps you move more freely and calms the nervous system.
Best for: Stiff necks, lower back tightness, and "desk posture."

🧊 Reach for ICE for:
• New or acute injuries such as slipping or falling on ice.
• Sharp or throbbing pain
• Swelling or inflammation

Why: Ice is a natural numbing agent. It calms down inflammation by constricting vessels, and "shuts off" sharp pain signals.
Best for: New injuries and reducing swelling in joints, allowing for better joint movement.

💡 The Verdict?
In January, Heat is usually the winner. Our bodies are already cold and constricted, and a warm wheat bag/hot water bottle or a hot bath is often exactly what your nervous system needs to let go of tension.

Still feeling stuck? If the heat isn't helping, there might be a joint restriction or a deep muscle knot that needs a professional "reset."
Here is how hands-on care can help:
💆‍♀️ Sports massage warms cold, restricted muscles and boosts circulation.
👐 Chiropractic adjustments improves spinal joint movement and helps calm and de-sensitise pain signals.

✨ What happens at your initial chiropractic consultation? ✨

If you’ve never seen a chiropractor before, here’s exactly what to expect at Jeal Chiropractic 👇

Step 1️⃣ Case History
We start by talking things through — your main pain or injury, relevant health history, lifestyle factors, work, training, and anything else that may be contributing to your symptoms.

Step 2️⃣ Examination & Diagnosis
This includes posture assessment, joint movement, muscle involvement and neurological screening where needed.
From this, we’ll explain what’s going on, give you a clear diagnosis, and refer to your GP or for imaging if required.

Step 3️⃣ Manual Therapy
Treatment may include sports massage, muscle stretching, joint mobilisation and spinal adjustments.
The aim is to reduce muscle tension, improve joint function and range of motion, calm sensitive pain responses, and help settle the nervous system — so you leave moving more freely and feeling more relaxed and less stressed. This allows your body to heal and recover more efficiently.

Step 4️⃣ Rehab & Advice
You’ll be given specific exercises to work on at home to support longer-lasting relief, alongside lifestyle advice around work, movement, training and general health.

💡 The goal isn’t just short-term relief — it’s helping you move better, feel stronger, and stay active long term.

Manage Stress and Pain This Festive Season

The Festive season is magical, but let's be real—they can be PHYSICALLY demanding! Are you noticing new aches, stiffness, or low-level pain? You're not imagining it!
