We’re all doing the best we can!

Hello fellow parent (or someone who loves a little person :) )

I know you want what’s best for your baby, right? And I also know that we’re all just doing the best we can with what we know!

When you know something, you can never ‘unknow’ it.

That means that what you do will be impacted by it whether you are aware of it or not. I know this to be true & that is one of the reasons why I am on a mission to reduce the incidence & severity of flat head syndrome (aka plagiocephaly and/or brachycephaly) by reaching the families of 10 000 babies.

Flat head syndrome is SO common with 1 in 2 babies having some sort of altered head shape and 1 in 4 being severe enough to warrant a helmet.

This makes me very frustrated but not half as frustrated as I get when mums come to me in tears because they’ve asked for help and been fobbed off time after time, told not to worry or even worse been given incorrect advice!

This should not be happening. Flat head syndrome should not be happening - it is a completely avoidable thing and I honestly believe that no baby would need to have helmet if his or her parents understood why flat head syndrome happens and what to do avoid from it from happening in the first place.

Unfortunately though, this is not the case yet. There are cases where actually a helmet is the best solution and parents should be supported to make this decision if it is the best way forward for them and their baby. Or not.

There are options.

My whole thing is supporting parents to understand what these options are so that they can make an informed, confident decision about what to do to avoid or treat their baby’s gorgeous little noggin’.

I also am a complete early development nerd and obsessed about tummy time and ways to boost baby and child development plus I am a mum to 2 girls, one who has sensory processing difficulties and possibly autism so I like to share stuff about those topics too.
