✨ SPORT-SPECIFIC REHAB DRILL ✨

Ankle injuries are very common in football. The first stages of rehabilitation are vitality important including: range of motion, mobility and strengthening exercises. However, late-stage rehabilitation which includes preparing players to return to sport, both physically and mentally is equally important, yet often forgotten about.

This late-stage, sport-specific rehabilitation drill tests both lateral movement and vertical movement of the ankle, but ALSO tests the players reaction and provides them with a drill that’s unpredictable- very much like a game situation.
This is key as it tests the stage of which the ankle is currently at and allows weekly comparison, as well as preparing the players for game situations.

DM now for advice on your injury and rehabilitation- whatever the stage!

✨Achilles Tendinopathy✨

Achilles tendinopathy is a common overuse injury that refers to a combination of pathological changes affecting the tendon that is normally due to overuse and excessive chronic stress upon the tendon.

There are three different stages of a tendinopathy based on the change in disorganisation within the tendon, these are:

•Reactive Tendinopathy
•Tendon Disrepair
•Degenerative Tendinopathy

It is very important to note that a ‘tendinopathy’ is not the same as ‘tendinitis’. A tendinopathy consists of degeneration of the collagen protein that forms the tendon, and is thought to be more common than tendinitis.

A very common symptom that’s reported when suffering with a tendinopathy is stiffness which is typically localised to the tendon, especially when they wake up in the morning. The tendon can also appear to have subtle visual changes upon assessment, depending on what stage of tendinopathy the patient is at.

Unfortunately a tendinopathy typically takes a long time to heal due to the lack of blood supply within the tendons themselves, however adequate rehabilitation and progressive exercises can really aid in the recovery of a tendinopathy.

DM now to get booked in for treatment and progressive exercises to aid in your rehabilitation journey!

✨TRIGGER POINT RELEASE✨

Commonly known as ‘knots’, Myofascial Trigger Points can cause chronic pain and affect a persons range of motion.
These trigger points consist of a small, tight area in the taut band of muscle fibres and fascia which restricts blood flow to the area and causes pain.
A unique feature of the trigger point is that the pain is not always felt at the location of the trigger point, but instead it can be felt in a different area of the body, this is known as referred pain.

The ✨TRIGGER POINT RELEASE✨ technique is a non-invasive way to release those tight spots by encouraging blood flow to the area and flushing waste material out.

Staying in one position all day long, for example desk work can cause tension to build up within your shoulders and upper back and can cause Trigger Points to arise. Incorporating some range of motion exercises into your daily routine can also help the tightness within your muscles to relax through increased blood flow to the area.

Direct message me now to book in for ✨TRIGGER POINT RELEASE✨treatment, as well as some range of motion exercises to help alleviate pain and tension!!
