Yesterday, cadets from 1104 and 92 (Chorley) Sqn took on the challenge of Pen-Y-Ghent in the Yorkshire Dales.

With wonderful weather in the morning, the cadets made short work of the steep scramble up the back, showcasing their brilliant skills to adapt to the very exposed terrain!

After a quick lunch at the summit the weather took a turn. Facing advertisty and low cloud cover, the cadets displayed their brilliant ability to work in an adverse environment and quickly zoned in on some excellent navigation techniques.

After dropping down out of the clouds, the cadets practiced some pacing and found an excellent point of interest at Hull Pot, with many discussions around how it was formed and big smiles all round despite the weather.

It was an excellent day walk with the cadets and staff thoroughly enjoying it. We look forward to planning more treks soon! Our thanks to our own CI Seddon and CI Dolan from 1969 (Rossendale) Squadron Air Cadets for taking their time on Father's Day to take the cadets on the walk.

This evening, Sgt Culshaw achieved his Method of Instruction qualification, allowing him to wear the coveted yellow lanyard on his uniform. His lesson was assessed by the Wing Training Officer who gave him excellent feedback on his planning and delivery. This qualification will allow Sgt Culshaw to deliver well developed lessons and teach our junior cadets new skills that will help with civilan or service life in the future. Well done Sgt!!

Yesterday, Pendle Squadron attended a VE Day Service in Nelson to commemorate 80 years since the end of World War II in Europe and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice. The service was an excellent tribute organised by the Armed Forces Support Group and was attended by the Deputy Lieutenant, and our squadron president, Mr Dennis Mendoros OBE.

Bronze Road Marching Day 2 πŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈ

And that's a wrap on the Bronze Road Marching Weekend. The cadets took a much more scenic route today but covered 447 metres of ascent compared to yesterday's 181 metres. For most cadets this was a practice ready for their bronze qualifier either at the RAF WARMA next month or at another event in the future. For 2 cadets, this was their qualifying walk which earns them their Bronze Road Marching badge, congratulations!

Bronze Road Marching Day 1 πŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈ

Today, cadets from across Cumbria and Lancashire Wing took part in the first day of their Bronze Road Marching, an increasingly popular activity across the Progressive Training Syllabus. The cadets enjoyed themselves and will definitely sleep well tonight! Fortunately, it only rained for the last 2km of their 20km walk. Tomorrow, they will have to do it all again on a different route but with a much brighter forecast 🌞.
