You may have seen on the news this morning that from Jan 2026 a chickenpox vaccine will be offered to eligible children. Unfortunately we have had no official communication yet regarding this new service from NHS England. What we do understand is the following:

The vaccine will be given as part of the routine infant vaccination schedule - so from January 2026 it will be offered to children at 12 months and 18 months old.

The vaccine will change from a 3-in-1 MMR vaccine, to a 4-in-1 MMRV vaccine (V is for varicella - the chickenpox virus).

We await further details regarding precise eligibility and further information about slightly older children who may be offered a 'catch-up' vaccine.

The press release has advised that as with other childhood immunisations, parents will be contacted by us to arrange an appointment if their child is eligible.

Unfortunately this is all the information we currently have.

We will update you as we learn more.

Please see this important announcement, especially if you have a hidden phone needed for safety.

The UK government will be carrying out a national test of the Emergency Alerts system on Sunday 7 September 2025 at 3pm.

Find out more at gov.uk/alerts

● Compatible mobile phones and tablets will receive an alert, make a loud siren-like sound and vibrate.

● The Emergency Alerts system is used to warn if there’s a danger to life nearby, including extreme weather.

● Regular testing ensures the system is functioning correctly, should it need to be used in a life-threatening emergency.

● The Emergency Alerts system is an important tool for reaching the public in emergency situations. However, for those who need it, information on how to opt out is available on gov.uk/alerts

Flu vaccines appointments are coming soon!

Flu vaccination season is on the way and we'll be holding clinics throughout October, with large clinics happening on a Saturday.

Appointments will be available to book from mid September. If we have a mobile phone number on the system then we will send you a text message which contains a unique link for you to book into a clinic.

The practice will also be offering covid vaccinations at the practice which we hope to hold at the same time as the flu vaccination clinics but we are awaiting further details from our PCN on the availability of the covid vaccines.

We will post again once appointments are available to book.
