⚠️ Severe winter weather warning for Lincolnshire drivers – TONIGHT ❄️

Drivers are being warned to prepare for some of the worst road conditions in years as a unique weather pattern moves into Lincolnshire later today.

🌧️ Rising temperatures followed by rain and sleet are expected to wash away salt already on the roads, before temperatures drop sharply again, leading to the risk of widespread sheet ice across the county.

🚛 Our full gritting fleet will be out around the clock, with thousands of tonnes of specially-treated salt ready to be spread. However, in conditions like this, even extensive gritting may not prevent treacherous roads, especially on routes not on the gritting network.

❗ Please take this warning seriously:
• Only travel if you absolutely must
• Allow extra time for journeys
• Drive to the conditions and leave extra space
• Take extra care on untreated roads

We will continue working day and night to keep key routes as safe as possible, but conditions overnight and into tomorrow will remain extremely challenging.

Weather warning

Please note that the entrance to Nettleham surgery is very icy and slippy. There is also a car parked at the top of the drive making it more hazardous.

Please allow plenty of time for your journeys and only travel if essential.

Please take care and look after your friends, family and neighbours if vulnerable

All young children in the UK will now be offered protection against chickenpox for the first time on the NHS. Experts say the new, combined vaccine called MMRV, where V stands for varicella - another name for chickenpox - is expected to reduce the many thousands of families affected by the infection each year and prevent the most severe cases.

The vaccine will be combined with the existing MMR jab, given at 12 and 18 months of age, which already helps protect against measles, mumps and rubella.
