Information about September weekend closure

All GP Practices, most dentists and community pharmacies have public holiday closures on Friday 19 September and Monday 22 September. Some community pharmacies will remain open during this period and can answer questions on choosing and using the right medicine and provide advice on treating everyday ailments. NHS 24 also has a number of pharmacists who are able to answer medicine and pharmacy-related questions over the telephone on 111.

🚨 Nationwide Emergency Alert Test — Sunday 7th September, 3pm

The UK’s new emergency alert system will send a loud siren, message, and vibration to every compatible phone even on silent. Survivors of abuse with hidden phones could be put at risk if the device is discovered.

You can opt out in your phone’s settings to protect your safety:
✅ iPhone: Search “Emergency Alerts” in settings → Turn off Severe & Emergency alerts

✅ Android: Search “Emergency Alerts” in settings → Turn off Severe & Emergency alerts (and other threat categories if listed)

CVD Risk Prevention

We are currently inviting some patients between the ages of 35 and 60 to offer them cardiovascular screening at the practice. This will allow us to assess patients for their risk of cardiovascular disease and diabetes and for them to receive tests, results and advice during the season.

Could the owner of the items left outside the front door of the surgery last night please come and remove them. The surgery does not take these items back they need to be collected by whoever provided them. Thank you.

*Repeat prescriptions*

We updated patients last year regarding the new NHS Ayrshire and Arran policy regarding repeat prescriptions. We ask that your order your medication one week before you run out if your prescription is to be sent to a local pharmacy. If you collect your prescription from the surgery please allow 48 hours before collecting.

Acute prescription have to be reviewed by our pharmacist or GP so please order in advance. Again if you collect from a pharmacy please order 7-10 days in advance to allow us to pass this to the appropriate clinical in plenty of time. If you collect from the surgery please allow 5-7 days before collecting.

If you are going to run out of any medication please come into reception and let us know (if you live outwith the village you can call between 11.00 - 12.30pm and 3.00 - 4.30pm to order your medication.

We ask that all patients living in New Cumnock put their prescription in the designated box by the front door to ensure our phone lines are available between the above times for patients who are housebound or live outwith the village.
